Hello.
I am looking to replace home theatre setup. I will be posted a few different threads in their appropriate categories regarding tv choice, speakers, and receiver.

For receiver, I can't seem to beat, for my budget a Onkyo 707, which I can get for about $399. I didn't see enough of a reason to go up to the 807, and I don't really need the features or price tag with the newer onkyo's.

What do you think of a 707 for a 13x14 livingroom. Viewing distance from front about 13 feet.
Likely will be powering BiC, Acoustech, or SVS speakers.

Thanks

The 707 would be a very good choice along with the SVS line of speakers, or you can look at Infinity Primus 362's mains and 162's surrounds and matching center. Hope this helps.

factory refurbished, which is okay with me.

I take it you think this is a good option for me?

Small favor. I did a post over in loudspeakers about comparing SVS to some very budget friendly BIC and acoustech speakers. Could you take a look? Thanks

Wow...the infinity are nice and certainly within budget. However, questioning infinity versus the other speakers I found in BIC and Acoustech and SVS lines.

I have a 707 in my master bedroom and I like it a lot. Audyssey MultiEQ, 100wpc, 4ohm stable, and preouts should you ever need them.

Thanks for support on that receiver choice. If you don't mind, Sholling, if you could stop by the loudspeaker forums, I have a post there about comparing BIC, Acoustech, SVS, and also Infinity for speakers to go with this Onkyo. Thanks

I read the post over there and would encourage you towards the infinity's, I use the 162's in surround duties and also have used a 162 as center channel with good results. For what the 362's are going for now it's hard to beat, paired up with 162's. Have not heard the Bic or acoustech so I can't comment, the SVS have gotten rave reviews but will cost you more, but from what I've read about their entire line of speakers they are well worth the asking price, no middleman and factory direct with 45 day return policy. As Sholling has mentioned you can't go wrong with the 707, very reliable and plenty power to drive the speakers you are looking at, stable to 4ohms. Good luck and report back on your decision.
