Folks:

Just got a pair of jbl l880's and I'm wondering if a denon 791 will be enough for them. It's only a stereo system so I'm just driving these two speakers. I do like loud music, though. Room size is 175' or so.

Thanks.

Wow....175 feet....if the other dimension is that large, you will need a ton of power and more speakers too !

I'm going to assume that's square footage.

The AVR-791 should be fine. Those speakers are pretty efficient. I'm sure it will get plenty loud.

Couldnt resist post above.....sorry....a review attached for you....These have an SPL of 91 db which makes them reasonably efficient...they should do fine with any modest amp of 75 watts +. Congrats.....they look like impressive little brutes...sounds like guy testing them at Stereophile actually wept when he had to send them back after test....They should fill a 17.5 foot room nicely...be careful you dont too attached

Thanks for the info -- and apologies, I meant sq. ft.

Thanks for all the help folks. Got the speakers and a denon 2310 (on sale for the same price as the 791), and the new setup is deafening and quite nice. I'm no audiophile, but I put it through the paces with a variety of music and movies and I'm very pleased, and based on advice here, I didn't bi-wire, didn't spend cash on expensive speaker cable, and things are good.

The jbl's are great across a range of different inputs.
