Im thinking of replacing my Old Sony cdp c-235 its the only thing I havent upgraded on my AVR rack and have had it for many years . It still plays well and sounds good but just wondering if im missing anything with the newer players such as the Emo . I really like the looks and the price of the Emo but that a lone wouldnt cut it I want better performance . So what do you guys think am I asking to much of the Emo performance wise compared to my old faithful Sony cdp ? Thanks in advance

I have an old SonyES CDP and SACD player and they both still sound fine, so if it still works, and you are happy with it, stick with it until it dies. If you are looking for something better...well...

My old Sony works fine im just board with it I think i've had it for over 10 years and it wont die knock on wood im just ready for something else I guess "maybe" but this Emotiva sure is nice looking there description has me licking my chops lol http://emotiva.com/erc1.shtm

Somewhere in this forum I read it really makes no difference in the player. They are essentially a data read and out. If you already have a great DAC in your amplifier and not too worried about all these new formats hitting the market, etc. I frankly dont see any difference in quality btw what you have today vs what you're proposing to buy in terms of AUDIO quality only. Feature-set, of course will be more "modern".

If you are going to use digital, it won't make a noticeable difference IMO. If you are going to use analog it can make a definite difference based on the DACs and other factors in the source unit. Between my BDP-83SE and all of my other players (analog) there is a noticeable improvement.

I can't say that I've seen any reviews of the ERC-1 though.

That makes sense to although on Emo's sight owners are noticing a difference but thats typical I would think
