Washer / Dryer Recommendations

Uh... I will recommend against a front load washer. There are too many thing that can (and do) go wrong with the front seal against the door.

You can buy high efficiency models that are top loading that have no agitator. My wife and I bought a GE Profile Harmony washer (top loading HE) and matching Harmony dryer (gas) about 2.5 years ago. So far so good.

Just hire someone to do it for you. :D I've been told that front loaders get the clothes really dry. So maybe you could just get a front loading washer and let nature dry the clothes.

Great. I just reserved an LG fridge, (a dented open-box $2000 fridge for $800), and a Samsung front load washer, (open box $700 washer for $399), and now you guys tell me that LG and Samsung suck?!?!?

Dammit!

Not really. Those are some excellent prices. I wouldn't hesitate as long as the warranties are in effect. What are the warranties they are offering on each product? Since you are getting these on such a deep discount would purchasing an extended warranty actually be worth it?

The Samsung front load washer/dryer is awesome. I had mine for 7 months (not one problem). They are awesome!

I just looked my Samsung model on the Consumer Reports webesite...WF448AA, and its ranked number 4 (#2, 3, and 4 have have the same score, its a 3 way tie for second)...So I don't know whose saying Samsung is not good.

I have had the Samsung front loaders for three years now and have not had any problems what so ever, my only complaint is that the door on the washer has to be left open to allow the rubber gasket time to dry or it will stay wet all the time and then we get a tinge of that must smell.I never had that with my Kenmore top loader.

Does yours have a light? If so, what did you do about that, did you just unplug it?

They're from Best Buy, so they still have the full factory warranties. Great prices, 18 months no interest and points on my Best Buy card that amounts to cash back; you can't beat that. :D

I might consider the extended warranty on the fridge, just because my wife is giving me tons of **** over the dent in the door. She thinks because it's dented it's used and is going to break. So it might be worth it just to not have to hear her ***** if the light burns out or something.

We have the LG washer & drier set. We love them. They save water and are very quiet. So far, no issues.

I have front loading washer (Kenmore) and it's been fine for about 4 years. I think if I had to do it over again, I'd probably opt for a top loading HE model for a couple of reason. For example, if I want to add bluing, I can't easily do that with a front loader. Same thing if you want to make additions on the fly like you started a load and then found a pair of socks you forgot, that's easy to do with a top loader.

I do want to say something about buying other brand appliances from Sears. I have a Maytag oven from Sears and I had a service contract. Paid off on account they replaced the indoor light assembly, hinges, and gasket. However, the smooth cooktop has discolored from underneath where the burners are and when Sears came in to look at it, they hemmed and hawed a lot. Said they'd have to check with Maytag. Turned out you needed a Maytag dude to make the call on replacement and the Sears guys weren't Maytag certified. So, if I wanted to pursue it, I'd have to call Maytag to examine the unit (~$75 or so for the visit) and then I'd have to see if Sears would install the unit if they didn't provide it. Point being in all of this is if you buy another brand other than Kenmore, check with the manufacturer if you plan on getting a service contract through Sears.
