A new study has found that an overwhelming amount of sunscreens on the market contain an ingredient that speeds cancerous cell growth. Sunscreen might cause cancer!!!!

I thought sunscreen was supposed to prevent/minimize cancer and skin damage???

I read another study which shows Vitamin A which in included in most sunblocks, while it's helpful indoors, its could be carcinogenic under the sun. (my wife is Pharmacist)

I funny how some of the things that are designed to protect us end up hurting us in the end. Lucky you...your wife is a Pharmacist, thats awesome! Duel economic stability is great, with Pharmacist pay

And of course most people are Vitamin D deficient too. Only now is the media mentioning this forgotten vitamin and how deficiency can increase the risk of autoimmune disease. Foods foritifed in vitamin D don't do much good. The sun is the best.

Just heard on the news this morning that, according to a recent study, vitamin D deficiency has been linked to Parkinson's disease.

I saw a new article during a news hour and its certain chemicals that cause it. There are a couple of different ways of producing it...one of which does host these "bad" chemicals.

Unfortunately in this economy no one's job is really safe or stable. Neither IT Pros or pharmacists All big pharmacies in the area Duane Reade, CVS and Wallgreens stopped hiring new pharmacist and getting a job as a pharmacist is not longer safe bet. Income is ok, but we need to pay off her 6 years school loans.... Add to that insane real estate prices, triple income taxes (fed, state and city) and you'd see not everything is so peachy...

... And now we can't even trust the SPF ratings on the f-n sunscreen and it cause cancer?

I have come to the conclusion that too much exposure to anything can cause cancer. On a different note, you have to take studies with a grain of salt. I dont know the specifics of this study, but many studies that are presented in the news are the first of their kind, and thus need to be replicated to ensure that they are indeed accurate. One study is not something to base your life habits around, especially something like sunscreen. I wouldn't recommend that you go to the beach and not wear sunscreen because of one study that hasnt been replicated. Also, a study is a very loose term, and their methods should be investigated and well documented.

Before posting that paragraph, I skimmed the article and it mentioned how it was only 1 study lol. I didnt read the article prior

Nothing's certain in life and chemicals. The other reason to use sunscreen (aside from cancer) is to avoid painful sunburn and the leathery skin that comes later. As usual, there's no free lunches and we need some sort of equation to calculate the risks.

Did you know that living increases your risk of cancer more than anything else. It's a well known fact that everyone who gets cancer is living when they get it. Your best bet is to eat right, exercise and take things in moderation with the exception of audio.

Well, once the loans are paid off it should be smooth sailing. The rest should hopefully fix itself (trying to be optimistic). I would think a job like a pharmacist would have a lot of job security because too many people depend the their meds.
