So i have a 56" Samsung DLP and the lamp recently went out. The OEM replacement is Phillips, I ordered from a company that sent me an Osram which is apparently also OEM. Anyhow, I installed everything just fine but I've noticed that the color temperature changes ever so slightly ever second or so. It's very regular and constant and only noticeable on solid areas of certain colors. White screens (like on my Wii) are particularly noticeable as the temperature switches from a cool blue white to a slightly dimmer red.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? I was thinking maybe some dust got onto the color wheel so I'll take the lamp back out and get some compressed air in there. Could it be that the lamp is bad? Did i switch the wires when I put it back into it's housing?

the problem is barely noticeable for most viewing but it's driving me crazy. I can't forget about it and spend a lot of time looking for areas where I can see the problem.

You can change the lamp brand in the service menu. I can't remember if Osram is an option. If it is, this might have an effect.

Be careful with any changes you make in there.

I changed the lamp brand to Osram and the colors look much better now. However, the problem is still there. I'm going to try dusting out the light wheel area tomorrow.

I am not an expert, and will basically just blabber some things I would look into. First of all, the percentage difference in brightness between a lamp on its very last legs, and a brand new one, is likely in the hundreds. Perhaps you already had this issue, but it was not perceivable when it was so dim.

I would think more, research more, before using compressed air. You might just agitate the dust into all sorts of places, without even successfully cleaning anything to begin with.

I am not sure if they actually do, but I've read that the degassing of lamps can create a film on certain optical parts. Compressed air won't get this off. I used rubbing alcohol on my prism in my LCOS projector, and the brightness jumped big time. However, I didn't have color temperature changing issue.

Also, not that I know how they even work, but do you have color mgmt settings? I just tweaked my friend's V10 plasma/BDP, for successful 24p playback and defeated all of the defaulted NR settings for the various inputs, but I didn't have the time/motivation to look more into his color mgmt settings. I wonder if these are some algorithm(s) that work on the fly. Do you have Samsung's DNIE defeated already? I hate NR of any sort, and that is very easy to pick out IMO.

Good luck. Sorry that I am not very helpful. If I were you, I'd sign up at AVS and run search functions, within the owner's thread for your specific model.
