Newbie alert!

I have had a look for the solution to this in the thread to no avail; I have New Blu-Ray Player, HD Freesat and am about to purchase the AV reciever, I have a good SONY 28" 100Hz CRT TV that is plenty big enough until our imminent move when I can see what size room the new set will go in. My sources and Amp obviously connect with HDMI, but how can I get a signal to the TV?

If the TV is SCART you are pretty much out of luck. You certainly can not get an HD signal to your TV.

Some receivers will down convert HDMI to 480i. Then if there is a composite RCA out you can use a composite/SCART adapter. You very likely will have to look for an old stock receiver, as the time is now here where analog outputs are supposed to be inactive from and HDMI source.

Really you need to wait and get an HDMI TV.
