Looks like predictions of a Germany Holland final are coming true. I don't doubt that Germany can dispense with Spain quickly but I'm nervous about Holland. This will be Germany's real test.
This will be Germany's real test...you do mean Spain:confused:? Kind of putting the horse before the cart here...aren't we? Spain is the current Euro champ and will give Germany all it can handle trust me....;).

Oh so close to a Netherlands vs Germany final...sigh. Offensively Germany was really sloppy and could not do anything in the midfield. It did not look like the same team out there today almost like Germany was playing not to lose - very conservative. Disappointing to say the least. The better team won today.

Spain is that good...you have to respect that! The better team won... without Mueller they had to play that way. They're an opportunistic team and relied heavily on the counter attack but you need to have ball to counter attack. Holland will play the same way and likely suffer the same result...JMO

This game reminded me of the Portugal game. Spain maintained that exact same tempo, ball control and domination. I am still surprised on the conservative defensive tactics since it hasn't been their philosophy throughout the whole tournament. What I was most impressed with Spain is how they handled the midfield which I thought was the biggest problem for the Germans and where they were most sloppy.

I hope the Dutch dont' suffer the same result. I will be going for them in the finals. ;)

I can easily see Spain dropping in 2 or 3 on Holland. I just don't think Holland is skilled, mentally and physically, enough to beat Spain.

The Netherlands did beat Brazil. Robben is a highly skilled player for the dutch. Spain does dominate especially in ball control but they have not been turning that into many goals. It has been good enough though. Lots of 1-0 wins.

Well losing to Spain is no embarrassement and it was not a gift game by any stetch of the imagination. I feel that Germany didn't play their best like they did against Argentina. In Germany's defense, they are a very young team and were not expected to make it this far. Well it will 3rd place for Germany, not a bad spot to be in for this young team. Germany will be the force to be reckoned with in the next world cup as the team has time to mature.

I think Spain will defeat Holland. Its nice to see another team take home the trophy other than usual suspect of teams.

Germany will have to be reckoned with and perhaps even before the next WC...the Euro Cup is in 2 yrs....;). I agree that having new teams vying for the WC is nice to see for a change. I believe its the second one for the Dutch and for Spain its their first.

I voted for Netherlands to win from the get-go before the tournament even started.....so I'm gonna stick with my guns and say they take down Spain. I think Netherlands is a lot more physical than most other teams in the tourney and this could cause problems with Spain's midfield. Xavi is going to be the key in this game....if he can control the tempo as he usually does Spain has a very good chance...if not then they are screwed.

Neither team has one that cup before..unless I missed it when I googled it.

Holland is always a solid choice...much like Spain in the sense they're always a fringe player, but not this time around! It should be a very good game and if Holland can keep Spain from controling the midfield( like they always seem to do) with Xavi and Iniesta they could get a favorable result.

My prediction 2-1 Spain and thanks btw :)

Holland has historically been a very good team, quite arguably the best team to never have won the cup (of which there are only 7). Anyhoo, if I never saw the Spain/Germany match, I would dumbly guess that the championship would be a toss up. IOW, if I had to bet, I think Spain will win. But, oh yeah, Holland beat Brazil, so what the heck do I know. I was very impressed by Spain's dominant play against what seemed to be an incredibly strong German team. I have no idea who I'll end up cheering on, I just want to see a great match.

Who takes third place? Your thoughts!? :) I think Germany wins.

How was the vacation....btw:)? Yea, I've always liked the Dutch style of play. In the 80's I became a fan with players like Marco Van Basten & Ruud Gullit but they never got over the hump, in other words they under-achieved in the minds of many. This team resembles past Dutch teams in that they have the talent, but Spain IMO is just a wee bit better.

Even if Diego Forlan plays for Uruguay, the German's will always play for pride....Germany 3-1

Regards, Bill....:)

I think Germany wins too but heh, I was wromg about Germany and Spain. Still sore about that one.

If Germany does lose to Uruguay, its becasue their heart isn't in it.

I was talking to a real soccer nut here and the thing I found out is that even though a team wins the world cup, it doesn't put them at top in the FIFA standings. Or instance Portugual is ranked third but thats becuase the numbers haven't been cranked thru the FIFA calculator. Germany should rise well above current 8th place after all is said and done.
