Adwilk, at no time in this thread did I specify a completion date. I stated that I would steadily work on them when I can and to provide regular updates to Randy. In fact, when this thread was started around 3-4 months ago, I had just cleared off Matt's speakers(which the cabinets have been completed) and was seriously starting the Randy speakers, which I believe was clearly stated. Indeed, I have done exactly as I promised; he receives a minimum of one update per week and I work on them a little each weekend. As of now, the progress, if held steady, will result in completion of the cabinet system in roughly 5 weeks.

You should post some pics of the work you're doing. Most people would love to see how they are coming along, and at the same time, randy would get to see progress along the way.

Sounds like more excuses to me.

So it's mid August now. Are the speakers completed, Randy? If not, what's the explanation?
By the lack of response I'll assume the speakers were not yet delivered. Pitty...

I am sorry you had to waste your money and time, Randy. What a shame.
Sounds like more excuses to me.
Your comments are ... snide.

You're not really helping at all. Why are you posting this stuff?
You should knock it off.

That said, >8 weeks later, what's the status? That's 3 more weeks than the last estimated date... "As of now, the progress, if held steady, will result in completion of the cabinet system in roughly 5 weeks."

Anyhow, not really my business...

The progress on Randy's speakers is covered here.

It could be said that I interrupted their progress.
Matter of fact I think it would be really big of Randy to give Chris the go ahead to finish my speakers first. :)

Just how exactly did I become low man on the totem pole anyway?

;):D

Well, we are almost a year down the line and I don't have any speakers yet, and my almost 5k investment is looking not very good. Recently had heart stints put in so maybe WmAx is hoping I croak first.

Any suggestions for those who know him well.

You've entered into some sort of contractual agreement whereby you were supposed to receive a product in exchange for monies within a certain time frame. Since he has had the money and not delivered the product as agreed to, you can explore a couple of options. Depending on the state he lives in, you can file in small claims and as we've seen in the matter of MLS, you may not even have to make a physical appearance to present your case. That information can be obtained from the state in which he lives. You can also contact both the local police as well as the attorney general in the state and present your side of the story. They may ask for corroborating documents which I'll assume you have. They then may choose to file criminal charges which invariably include restitution. Depending upon the amount in question, they may rise to the level of a felony.

I agree, he's ban from the forum until Randy has the speakers in his possession.
This is not cool and WmAx ban should be reversed. Chris's knowledge and experience shouldn't be deprived to rest of AH forums members over RL matter, outside of AH forums.

I'm sure Chris has his own very good reason why it is taking so long, especially in light of recent injury he had....

He can continue to share his knowledge once the speakers are done. This RL matter developed from these forums so therefore relevant.

Have you ever asked for a full refund at any point during this fiasco?

No, not really. I'm sure you know better than anybody what your options are.

I'm just chiming in to show support and to extend my best wishes to you regarding the most important thing of all, your health. I just took a quick look at Chris' first post in this thread and saw that he claimed that Matt's speakers were almost done. That was simply not true. I wasn't aware of the obvious discrepancy that statement had with reality when I posted supporting and defending Chris. It's just now that I noticed the lie.

There is still a simple and obvious way out of this mess for Chris.
Complete the speakers and come clean ... completely clean.

This is the classic case of someone trying to turn a hobby into a money making operation in his spare time. It is ludicrous for someone without a proper workshop (big cuts outside??????) to attempt to sell his services. I hate to say it but I think we all know how this is going to turn out as Chris is clearly in over his head.

+1
This is exactly what I think, yet I still think banning Chris for overestimating his abilities and time is wrong.

Should he communicate better to his client - Randy - absolutely, but I think we need to give Chris a chance to explain himself and apologize.

In over his head is an obvious understatement.

I consider myself in expert in golf equipment and once took on a few projects for some members in another forum. It didn't take long to realize that it wasn't lucrative enough to be my profession, and hobbyists aren't as efficient as the pros even though the end work might be better. I had to stop doing it unless it was a favor. I dragged a few of those projects out several weeks and felt awful about it.

I think its fair to say that Chris takes a lot of pride in what he does and as such, probably feels pretty bad about this entire circumstance- whatever it is that is keeping this from completion. But the excuses absolutely have to stop. It was freakin absurd months ago.

Sounds like a "rob Peter to pay Paul" type of scenario where the funds don't exist to complete project. Too bad.
