Release day buy for me :D I think it was mentioned sometime back that they had been doing some recording and it appeared to be High Definition, so this isn't surprising, but it is still freaking excellent news

The progressive rock band Porcupine Tree announced that it is putting the finishing touches on its new live film, Anesthetize, recorded over two nights in Tilburg (Netherlands) in October 2008, at the end of the Fear of a Blank Planet tour. It will come out in April, in a cloth-bound hardback 120-page book, including the concert on Blu-ray and DVD, as well as two audio CDs of the soundtrack.

(I put it here instead of in music because it is Blu-ray).

According to their web page, there will also be a "not so deluxe" edition without the CDs and the book, only bd and dvd.

I will probably spring for the deluxe on this one. I really liked the version s of some of the tracks on Arriving Somewhere so if this one is like that, I will be happy to have the CDs. I haven't bought it, but Arriving Somewhere was available for download as FLAC or MP3 from the PT store.

Anesthetize is my favorite Porcupine Tree song. This is cool that a BD disc is coming out for them. Can't wait to see them live in Tampa next month!

SOLD OUT! I got an email saying my copy would be delayed by two weeks even though I ordered it quite early. Burning Shed doesn't even have it up, only the DVD version.

Amazon Runs out of Porcupine Tree Blu-ray

Porcupine Tree: Anesthetize, the first Blu-ray release from progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, doesn't come out on Blu-ray until June 29, but it is already sold out at Amazon.com. The product page at the Internet retailer displays the message: "We have sold through our allocation of the Anesthetize DVD + Blu-ray Edition. The Anesthetize single-disc DVD edition [due out on June 15] is still available to order."

A friend of mine got the Grey Box SE version, and he's stopping by tomorrow evening for a viewing with my rig. I'm looking forward to seeing this one. I'll report my impression tomorrow afterwards.

I watched Anesthetize last night. I was quite impressed, and the video/audio quality were simply outstanding. The audio (DTS-HD MA 5.1) mix is possibly the best I've heard on a concert video. Reference quality.

I should clarify my earlier post: He has the Grey Book Limited Edition. Very well done.

Burning Shed currently has the last of the Digibook standard BD/DVD copies available for perorder and they are calling it a limited edition also, meaning they won't be producing the digibook packaging going forward. This is not the same as the red or grey limited editions that came with the CDs and photos.

I did go ahead and order the digibook, as I was quite "blown away" by the presentation I saw Friday evening. It's every bit worth the price.

I already have my order placed with Amazon, but I just canceled it and ordered through Shed on this one since I missed out on the original Limited Editions.

Got home and had a pleasant surprise waiting last night :D The AQ of the dtsHD track is pretty impressive. I didn't have a chance to watch the whole thing, but I will one evening this week.
