Hello:

Last year when I was hunting for equipment I got sucked in to buying an AV (NAD T765) and a subwoofer which have both turned out to be lemons, The sub is a Martin Logan Abyss. It worked for while and then seemed to loose its power and at present is waiting for a part to be shipped from the ML factory to the supplier in Quebec and then to my retailer in Vancouver. Anyway, after wasting $1300 on this lemon, I am in need of some advice.

I can not afford another sub fiasco, so I am wondering what is out there that I can put together as a DIY project. I will get someone to build the cabinet but assemble the electronics myself.

Really have to stop being lazy about research in this realm...

Any advice would be appreciated..

If he didn't want to do a DIY and had $8500 for a used sub or $12000 for a new sub, then the G213 might work. He could also get 2 Ultras for less than half the price of 1, used G213 and the Ultras would likely best the JL.

There are many options for a DIY. How big is your room in cubic feet and what is your budget for the build?

My brother had the AV (NAD T765), and they did the same thing.
