Much effort has been directed by Michelle Obama and her husband with regards to stemming the tide of rising childhood obesity. These are laudable goals and demonstrate a commitment to the overall health of the country. However, are our children being given conflicting messages by the appointment of Sonya Sotomayor to the Supreme Court and the recent nomination of Elena Kagan?

While both have fine credentials, ought it not to have been possible to nominate more svelte members that our children could aspire to? For example, consider Kara Dioguardi. She was a judge on American Idol and you know the youth watch that.

Or what about Christina Perez? She would appeal to the hispanic population and she's been a judge on TV?

It's good for our youth to have role models, but not role models that can't control their own urges. What do you think?

Are your suggestions serious? I don't think a factor in picking who should be in the supreme court should have anything to do with looks. In fact, kids have enough things telling them they should be skinny and attractive anyways. I don't think the youth of America needs to look up to attractive women who got in their position because of their body type, or because they're a judge on a tv show.

Did you have a point? While that is a nice list it still does not change the fact that this was a horrendous choice for the SC on many levels including the one the OP suggested. However, from this administration I would expect nothing less and I am not surprised in the least.

My point was in reference to your point of her credentials being she has never judged a case and that would eliminate her from being considered to SCOTUS, in which case all of these Justices on this list would all so be eliminated as well. Some of the greatest Justices in history are:

These men are also on that list. Personally I could careless about her looks as long as she can do the job and uphold the law and stay true to what is written in the Constitution. If she can't do that then she has to go.
