so i watched this last night thinking how late i was considering this started showing April 30 ... and then i realized it wasn't released in the US yet :D :cool::cool:

my thoughts on it:
it was an OK movie. still much better than fantastic four or spiderman 3 (though spiderman 3 is up for debate). this is basically a quick fix movie. there was nothing super-wow or super-new, it was just hollywood's answer for a sequel.

they could have made it iron man 1.5 that would probably have satisfied some of those complaining about nothing going on

but for me, it was better than a popcorn flick, i like it in fact

3.5 stars out of 5

for reference

fantastic four 1 is 1 star
fantastic four 2 is 2 stars
spiderman 1 is 4.5 stars
spiderman 2 is 4 stars
spiderman 3 is 3.4 stars
daredevil is -5 stars -5 stars again for ben affleck

Haven't seen it yet, despite decent cam release online made possible due to studio's VERY RARE decision to open the movie internationally first, before scheduled US release due to Would Cup.
I honestly don't expect much out of it, but hope for great PQ/SQ :D

My verdict: fun, lots of fun! And in a way I wasn't expecting: Tony Stark is so much fun in this flick, even more than Iron Man is. Robert Downey Jr. obviously had a great time doing this movie, and has some brilliant scenes and downright delicious lines.

It's not a GREAT flick, but it's a fun flick, one I'm definitely looking forward to owning on Blu! (The LFE was awesome!)

cheers,

PS: Oh, and Scarlet Johannson is a total FOX in this movie!!! <3

Watched the first one on BR this evening, then saw Iron man 2 in theaters. I liked the movie, although it felt like it was missing something. Maybe it was missing some suspense? You kind of knew what was going to happen the whole time, and the technology started to get a little out of hand with its farfetchedness. That's not a word, but you know what I mean lol.

And Scarlett... yea not much to say, except I hope shes in future Iron Man movies. :D

The movie does focus more on Tony Stark than on Iron Man, which probably explains why many have complained that "nothing happens" in this flick. But Robert Downey Jr. is just so damn good in this role, with great scenes and juicy dialogue (the hearing was a great example of this) -- I came out of the flick remembering RDJ's performance, not Iron Man's action scenes.

Gwyneth is woefully underused, Mickey was so good I wish his character had more to do, Sam is brilliant as always, Scarlett was smokin', but RDJ -- damn, he gets to have all the fun!

So the question begs:

Should I wait and get the IM2 DVD in a year for $4 used on Amazon our should I spend $9 and go to the theater?

From Wikipedia:

"Black Widow is biotechnologically and psycho technologically enhanced — an accounting that provides a rationale for her unusually long and youthful lifespan."

So I guess she has some super powers. :D

I'll be the contrarian...I sorta saw it. About half way through the movie, the sound went out for a couple minutes and the audience got restless. Then as what I assumed to be the final confrontation drew close, the fire alarm went off in the theater and we all had to leave. The strange thing is that I didn't care.

I got my money back and that felt better than finishing the movie. Downey's performance seems to match his character, an overconfident hero who has outlived his heroism. I could have gone with more of Mickey Rourke as the villain, but they squandered him on a few short scenes. Don Cheadle was just extra baggage; a hapless character. Paltrow and Johanssen had no chemistry and the whole mess seemed like they saved money on rehearsals so they could fund more cheesy digital FX.

Folks, got to see this film this afternoon. I really liked it from beginning to end. The audio and video special effects were spot on. The story-line was even decent. As another member mentioned, Scarlet Johansson is absolutely breath taking to say the least. Have to easily give this film a solid A. Personally, I thought it was as good, if not better, than the first. That should tell you something. ;):);)

Cheers,

Phil
