Nightmare On Elm Street!

Folks, we have received what seems like a ton of rain as of late. As such, I decided to go see a movie today. Sure enough, the new Nightmare On Elm St. fit my mood. That being said, I must say the ONLY thing that impressed me were the sound effects. More on that later.

The acting was not very good. The special effects visually were not much better than the original. However, the sound effects were spot on. That is, much better than in the original.

One thing I did like about the film is that it seemed to explain, in greater detail, what happened to Freddy. But, Robert Englund did a much better job at playing Freddy. He looked scarier and just flat out played the role better.

In closing, I really did not care too much for the remake. The original, with the exception of the audio effects, was much better. Even the video effects were not much better than the original. As a result, I have to give this film a C- at best as I am being overly generous. Nightmare On Elm St. is not a film that needed to be remade imho. Quite frankly, I would ask for my money back, but I had a free pass to see it. Perhaps, I could ask for my time back? That should tell you something.:eek::rolleyes: Thus, not sure that I could even recommend this film as a rental. Yeah, it sucked that bad!

Cheers,

Phil

Has anybody else seen this film yet besides me? If so, what is your take on the film? Just curious to see how others feel about the remake.

They need to stop remaking older movies and start thinking up new ones. The only remakes I've seen recently that are worth anything are Star Trek and Batman.

I think I'll wait and get it @ Blockbuster when it is released in stores.:D

Remakes are always hard to please, but I thought CLASH OF THE TITANS was a great remake. I thought it was 100% better than the orginal in every way.:D

And those weren't really even remakes. More reinterpretation of the sagas' beginnings that told stories that hadn't been presented on film before (at least AFAIK)

True, as some films do not need to be remade. Nightmare On Elm Street is a perfect example imho. Like you, I thoroughly enjoyed Star Trek and Batman!

Not too sure it is even worth a rental. Maybe on one of those days/nights when there is absolutely nothing to do, then perhaps give it a try. Other than that, I would leave it. ;):p;)

Yeah, to some extent there were some different interpretations. Sometimes that is a good thing whereas at others it is not.

Phil
