So is three at 12' overkill? :D
No worse than three T12's at 13' ...:p

To paraphrase Martin Brody, I’ve got to get e bigger amp!

Along those lines, what do you guys think about the Lab.gruppen amps?

Haha, it's nice to know someone is crazier than I am. I guess we were never worried if you'd be able to make up for the decibel or so lost through the AT screen. :p

I still need that dog though.... :)

Lab.Gruppen amps are what I have used to power and arena rig for years. They are super light packed with power and they ain't cheap by any means......but killer amps for sure....

Werd. The exchange rate hasn't helped either.

I used to recommend them to big cheese people, but, man, its like offensively expensive now.

I read that was a Lab.Gruppen FP7000 driving the single Triple 8 and the Growler Duo has a 4000 watt amp (OEM unknown). I guess power does matter (especially out doors from 100 yards);).

They are good amps, but I asked the same question when considering them as new amps for my setup and got some different responses from some of the proaudio guys....

Seems they are continuing to command that high dollar entrance fee although they really haven't changed much in the way of design over the last numbers of years. Roadies love them because they are light and when a rack full of them gets out of control rolling down a hill, they are far less apt to kill someone :) Also, others have not been totally thrilled to death with their very low bass handling - as good as it would be for pro-audio in the 20-20K region they are fine, but also take that with a grain of salt as the measurements were far more important when working with standard designed subwoofers (ported/sealed) where more control to the driver is needed down low to hit that brown note - although not nearly as important with a far more efficient horn based scenarios like the Th-Spud or DTS where the alignment does all the work for you..

There are other amps out there that won't break the bank for your application, which will provide you with the same clean power....

Which speakers are you looking to drive in making changes to your amps, what are the power limitations.. The JTR's are plenty efficient - up to 1200w is an easy amp to get for not a huge amount of money..

3 of these bridged - 1 for each Triple 8

The QSC's are extremely solid and stable

or the PL340's
http://www.qscaudio.com/products/amps/powerlight3/powerlight3.htm

These are pro-audio speakers for the love of mankind please drive them with a pro-audio amp. Crest, QSC are extremely capable amps for a better price...

The XPA-3 wouldn't make me comfortable with these speakers, but it's an option if aesthetics are highly valued.
Come on, this is just a ridiculous statement here.... Power is power if it measures within spec.... If your looking at more power, one could also easily look toward using Class D amps like Wyred4Sound / or D-Sonic which are fully configurable and dead silent. But those can cost a pretty penny.
Mark Seaton certainly has no problems driving his Catalysts or submersives with them and is working on even higher powered units for his bigger projects, like the Dual Opposed 18" subs...

Plenty of ways to skin a cat - I like Proaudio amps and have more then most people would consider, but there is a time and place for each...

rmk, did you ever try one of your sub amps with your mains and see how it sounded?

No but I might give it a go. I don't expect much if any difference. As it stands, my room and ears give out long before my amps and speakers do ;).

I was just curious about the Lab.gruppen because of the YouTube video. :)

Yeah, I'd say your Sunfire should be plenty for the mains. Actually I'm jealous of your Sunfire, that's a nice amp. I would /way/ rather have that than my 6U worth of amps. Pretty sure there are rack kits for all the Sunfire products, and that thing can't be more than 3 or 4 U.

I thought he moved from the sunfire to a Wyred4Sound amp...
