New JVC RS10 Projector in Route

Just ordered my new RS10 projector. I've been going back and forth since I had the chance to demo them (RS10/RS20). Decided to go with the RS10 as I can deal with the colors and opted for calibration/qc service as well. Should have it next week, and am looking forward to it. This one should last me for 2 yrs roughly. Currently I have the HD1 in my setup and though it's a very nice PJ, I like toys and wanted the new model. I personally like the feature set on the new models, lens quality is better and the image is sharper also. I'll definitely post my thoughts once I get it paired up with my 126" Carada screen.

That is neat to hear that the RS10 is a significant step up. I thought you were going RS20 for sure! HAH.

I love my RS1. I would not upgrade it unless it was really a big step up. And that kind of step up is too much money! lol

One can only imagine what kind of quality will be available in just a few years for affordable pricing.

As it is, everybody that has seen my setup, and I mean everybody, thinks that my RS1 is the most beautiful pic they have ever seen.

Oh yeah I definitely agreed the RS1/HD1s are very nice projectors. Just don't venture off and look at the new models and you will be fine. I wont spend another cent on a pj until 2 more models are released, 2yrs should do it.

Haha...this is a true story for just about everything I buy in the HT world. I picked up an RS20 in in January, and had to stop looking at PJs. I did the same thing when I bought my receiver, my speakers, even my blu-ray player.

Hey Andrew how are you enjoying the RS20? I spent some time with both the 10 and 20 and was very pleased in both PJs. They throw a very sharp image which is what really grabbed me. Black level performance is obviously there also.

I'm absolutely loving it. This is my first PJ system, but couldn't be happier. To be honest, the color oversaturation doesn't really bother me (read I can't exactly see it!), but it's nice to be able to tinker when you're bored. I've got nearly 500 hours on the pj already and I'm still in low lamp mode, granted I have a rather small screen (92"), but the brightness situation was something I seriously worried about before pulling the trigger.

I agree about the sharpness on these machines, it's at the point where the source material is the limiting factor. Some blu-rays are noticeably softer than others. Being able to see the limits of the source is an odd sensation with the PJ, but I remember a similiar situation with CDs when I finally acquired higher end speakers. There hasn't been a person to see it yet that wasn't blown away by the picture, I know you're going to love yours!

What an awesome performer this machine is. Spent the whole day in the HT room, watching movies/gaming. Excellent day to spend a Friday after work. Just makes you want to watch movies over and over again. The black level is unreal, fade to black scenes are spectacular. The JVC is plenty bright on my 126" screen, not overly bright as to hurt the eyes. Gaming has been a blast as one could expect on such a large screen. I think where this PJ shines is with sharpness and the way it does handle the hi def material. 1080p/24 appears very film-like as this PJ is able to provide allot of pop to the image. Loving the JVC's as my screen looks like a huge plasma mounted on the wall.

We just installed one of these projectors for a client of ours. And I must say, what a great projector it is. We also installed a DVDO VP50 video processor and the picture is absolutely amazing.

Thought I would resurrect this thread.

I just bought a JVC RS10 through a killer deal at AVS. I have about 15 hours on it and couldn't be happier. It's a big step up from the Optoma H78 I had before.

The only thing that it isn't as good at is fast motion. It has blur with hockey that is noticable compared to a DLP and the stuttering of 24p seems to be more pronounced somehow.

Overall I am very happy.

Regarding your question in my thread, I think you might want to ask at AVS. I think only Sherardp has done the cleaning here, so far.

No problems here with either. JVC has been known to have issues with fast panning, and that's with all models. Some people can see while others cannot. I'm in the market for an upgrade and may jump on an RS35, if I can sell the RS10.
