I used to have that same sub in silver. It's not a bad sub, but I don't think it would do too well in a larger room. You could also find something much better for the money, luckily I only paid $250 shipped for mine when I had it.
What is your budget, and what are the room dimensions this will be going in?

I just went to their website and saw it was only 175RMS. My room is 20X15 and open to my kitchen which is roughly the same size.

I think I am going to look for something more in the 250-300RMS range. What do you think?

I don't need crazy earth rattling bass, just want something to complement my Spakercraft 5 speaker setup.

Thanks

Don't guage a subs effectiveness by the amps wattage. For a room that size that is open to another room that size, I would look for at least a 12" sub... what is your budget?

Have you considered looking into the used market? You would likely find something much better for your money that way.

I have but have had bad experiences buying used electronics.

I was thinking about this:

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-770

I'll start with it in the front of the room and if it doesn't put out enough, I can get a second one for the rear. My house came prewired with a sub connection in the rear of my living room so I will already have it wired for a second sub if needed.

You may be better off with dual Dayton Sub-120 12" subs, that would be within your budget, and you can either stack them for an extra 6db, or have them in different locations in the room for a more even frequency response and you would still gain 3db by having dual subs..

I was thinking this but now that I realize, I only have 1 sub output on my receiver. How can I best hook up two?

Also, sent you a PM.

you can either run a splitter off the back of the receiver, or use the preamp output on the sub amp.

Sorry but I am a little confused. Can you help me figure out what I need? I would have to split from the receiver since my wiring to the rear will be running off my wall plate.

Reason I am confused is that my in wall wiring is a single cable yet the sub has two plugs for input. My current "budget" sub I have only uses a single wire to plug in.

Can you explain this?

since you have a wall plate, you can split where the wire comes out of the wall plate, or run the sub cable coming from the wall to your sub input, then run another cable from the output on the sub amp to the input on your second sub.

That will work, but don't use 3.5mm cables, use a subwoofer cable, which is the same as a regular rca cable.

I actually noticed this myself and I ordered the subwoofer cables. I think I am going to try out the Sub 120 from Dayton. I'm going to start with one but wire everything up so if I decide to get a second it's just plug and play. I think for my budget it is a good one for me to get started with.
