Are-the-mains-set-to-SMALL?

At least entertain the question.
YUP they sure are. i am thinking the left side of the room is a deadzone for bass bc if i stand right next to the tv its loud as ****.

So at least you know there is nothing wrong with the sub, that's good to know... you also said your room is 13x13, and square rooms are known to be troublesome for getting good bass. Just try moving the sub around to different locations, which I know isn't all that easy since that sub is heavy.

Sounds like same problem I have. I love my SVS sub but its in 24x16 with vaulted ceilings. Certain movies just blow me away but music and some movies i barely hear it. If I walk near the corner it is in I experience the same thing where it hits real hard, but as I walk away really cant hear it. And I have an EQ hooked up to mine as well.
Keep playing with location and I am sure others will help out.

A method I have used in the past is to put the sub where you normally sit. Then crawl around the room looking for where it sounds best. Put it there.

Next step is a BFD.

As others have said, play with placement. The sub crawl test is an effective way to begin getting a handle on where the sub will sound best, EQ (a BFD and REW can be a powerful set of tools), and bass traps will all be helpful. Room modes are just a PITA to deal with.

Congrats on the new sub though, the Ultra's are awesome subs.

You where kind of indecisive before buying your sub and buying on impulse can net those results. Fwiw..here is hoping you won't have those issues in the new place.
Good luck...:)
