Help with a Pioneer 1019 and Wii

I am new to this group and in the process of setting up a 7.1 system. I would like to attach my Wii to the Pioneer 1019 I have so that I could get component video from the Wii. Is this possible and if so, how do I do it.

The Wii has composite video, so just connect it to one of the several composite connections in the back of your Pioneer AVR, like DVD, TV/SAT, or DVR IN.

There are (proprietary) Wii component cable sets available.They include the 3 component video cables plus stereo (red/white) audio cables. (You can get compatible cables from 3rd parties for less than what Nintendo wants.)

Such a cable can plug into a Wii in only one way.
The video and analog cables that would plug into the receiver are color-coded. You can use either of the two component video input sets on the receiver. You'll have to read the manual for the details of how to associate that video input with the appropriate stereo audio input.

OK, I learned something new today. Is it worth $30.00, however, to go from 480i to 480p, especially given that most if not all HDTVs automatically upscale any of their inputs to their native resolution (720p or 1080P) anyhow?

Component video also has noticeably better color than composite video. Both horizontal and vertical resolution are improved. How much better it looks depends on the quality of the TV and how well calibrated it is, though.
