Hi,

I am new to this world and have a big knowledge gap.

I would like to upgrade my office audio system. I am not designing a home theater, but do want the ability to add my PS3 and TV to the mix.

Here is the current set up.....

Vienna Acoustics - Waltz (I have a lot invested in them so I want to build around them)

20x25 room
Hard surfaces (its an office)
10' ceiling height

I was thinking the cheapest solution was to add a sub and use the PS3 as the CD player.

So what I think I need is:

Amp (necessary?)
Receiver
Sub

Given a ~$3k upgrade budget and a preference to keep the Waltz's, what would you recommend?

Buying a pair of towers is possible as I guess I can sell the Waltz's

I would keep the speakers and add dual subs.

Your speakers are low ohm but high sensitivity so a good AVR should drive them.

The PS3 would be fine for a CD player or get an AVR that allows streaming and use your computer as the source.

I would keep your speakers and go with Pdawgs suggestion as far as subs...You need a new AVR to drive those babys but your rig needs subs and a AVR and you are good.

How much budget do you have left?

I am a Denon fan so I would go for a AVR-3310CI or above.

Cables will be cheap, just make sure you get them online.

Going dual subs you might want to checkout Behringer DCX2496 to better integrate them with mains

Cheap cables from monoprice will work fine, but for extra bit quality checkout ones on BJC
