i've got a 15" ascendant audio arsenal subwoofer and i am wanting to build an enclosure to add to my HT setup. i've built several boxes for my car, all slot ported, and i'd like to do another slot port unless theres some advantage of round ports. anyone who could give me some build specs would be a huge help.
Like a lot of car subs, it is not highly suited to HT.
If you use the ported enclosure volumes suggested by the company it does not really reach sub range for HT.
If you are prepared to live with a very large cabinet you can make it work. It will require a slot vent. The one designed has a vent air speed of 17 m/sec, which is satisfactory.

Name:
Type: Vented Box
Shape: Prism, square (optimum)
Vb = 9.377 cu.ft
Fb = 21.15 Hz
QL = 5.177
F3 = 22.86 Hz
Fill = minimal
No. of Vents = 1
Vent shape = rectangle
Vent ends = one flush
Hv = 3 in
Wv = 15 in
Lv = 25.01 in
You must add the driver volume, 0.2 cu. ft plus bracing and the total vent volume to Vb to get total box volume Vt.
This enclosure will go over 10 cu. ft for home HT use.
If you use a sealed enclosure F3 is over 50 Hz with very little room for Eq as xmax is almost entirely used prior to Eq.
Use of that driver can only be recommended for home HT with a very large enclosure, which may not be practical for your situation.
