Allison Subwoofers?

BoredSys, seems you are on the hunt for a new sub or subs...

Do you have a budget in mind....?

Requirements towards integrating into your system..? Size constraints...?
 
My front towers produce pretty decent down to 30hz, so I'm not in rush really, more so being curios and trying to explore my option.

The Biggest constrain is I live in apartment, rent apartment at this, so all downfirers out of the question, but I afraid even front firing would be out the question too. My Living room is rather big (34x12) so I'd need some big, but as I said I'm afraid my neighbors will come after me with forks and torches if I get what I really want :D

That's a tough situation to be in. Perhaps you could pick up a sub from a store with a no-cost return policy and try it in your apartment. Talk to your neighbours and tell them that you are going to conduct a trial, then they won't come storming over to your place to tear a strip off you, or get the super on your back. If the sub doesn't bother them - your good to go! Just return the "trial" sub, if you don't like it and order the one you want. Everyone's happy!:)

If a sub is annoying to your neighbours and would turn you into the building leper, you avoid the expense of returning a mail-order sub.

As for front- versus down-firing, I don't believe it would make a pinch of difference. Those bass frequencies will penetrate walls and floors with equal efficiency. IMHO...

Would sub-dude/gramma help ?
 
A sub-dude will help some but really about the only thing you can do is place the sub right next to you and leave the level pretty low.

Yes a subdude would help a lot but its not going to eliminate the annoyance if your building is constructed poorly.

I would suggest you maybe try one of the subs from Aperion as I believe they cover the cost of shipping both ways and you can try it for 30 days.

Lets just say in my building if me or neighbors walk around and step heavily in their apartments in outdoor shoes, kids running people who live below them get to "enjoy" the "tumbs"

I wouldn't recommend actually keeping the Aperion sub as IMO they are overpriced for what you get. My thought was that he will have a completely free audition with a high quality sub capable of good output to test his neighbors sound levels with. I would certainly agree with the Epik suggestion....but I'm sure you already know what we would recommend in your price range as there are over a million threads on this already (yes I just counted, a million).

p.s: I just found some reviews for other Allison Acoustics speakers, and reviews are pretty raving...

Thou the original company website is rip (so I assume the company is), but I wonder if PE just got some leftovers subs or it's just someone using their name....

You can try calling or emailing Hsu and ask.

When the Allison website was alive, they had subwoofers that resembled Hsu subwoofers. I asked Hsu about it, and they confirmed they were rebadged Hsus.

The subwoofers listed above resemble Hsus, but the specs (amps) do not.
