I watched "2012" on Blu Ray and this is a really good flick from a surround sound perspective. Now for the bass...I'm thinking my current setup is a bit lacking for deep bass. I currently own a PSB Subsonic 5 (not the 5i) which is good down to 32 Hz. I need something that will dig into the low 20s for around $500Cdn. Is this achievable for my budget? How difficult will it be to dial a 2nd sub into my system that would be able to dig deeper? Is this also achievable with a 7.1 receiver opposed to a 7.2 receiver?

I sold my pb10 last month. I would've worked out a deal with you for shipping to Ottawa for <$500.00. Supervij another local member bought it and from all accounts is very happy. I believe he tried to augment the svs alongside his Athena as p400 but thought better of it.

Cheers, Bill...:)

If you can put together a 20" cubed enclosure, this will give you what your after.

I'd look around the used market at your price, it's going to be hard to find good 20hz output otherwise buying new.

New option:

I think the next best option for you would be an HSU sub in Canada. They should have distribution there as well. A VTF-2 Mk3 will probably be in the same range as a PB-10.

The PB-10 is an excellent sub too. I got output to 16Hz and pretty respectable output at 18Hz from mine.

There is always the DIY route ;):D

A Dayton Ref. Series in a vented enclosure can do 20hz pretty well.

Some of the AE Speakers options are worth a good look. AV12-X with dual 15" passives will do 18hz easy at >105db anechoic. In room would be even more. The cool part is net enclosure volume only need be 3.0ft^3!

For an additonal 200.00 I could've had duals but I was already pushing the outer limits of my budget. But those numbers are insane IMO....:D
