Very funny article. This film apparently recently won worst of the decade. Easily one of the worst I've seen.

Now, looking back at the movie with fresh eyes, I can't help but be strangely proud of it. Because out of all the sucky movies, mine is the suckiest.

Maybe he should write some more comedies, because he is pretty darn funny

Yes, he wrote the book, but this guy wrote the screenplay for the movie. Apparently Hubbard also had a movie in mind when he wrote it and that is why this guy was fired At least he has a sense of humor about it

I never understood why there is such universal hatred for this movie. I'm the only person I know of that didn't think it was all that bad. There's plenty of worse movies out there, the whole "scary movie" franchise is easily worse than Battlefield Earth.

It was just for the last 10 yrs - Battlefield Earth was released in 2000, Waterworld in 1995

The scary movie franchise and all of the crap related to them (dance movie, disaster movie, etc...) were never intended to be taken seriously. Battlefield Earth was. Waterworld was nowhere near as bad as BE, but it certainly isn't a good movie.

Waterworld was one of my first DVD's I ever bought. I gotta say, I loved that movie.
