Missing a niche market?

I mean give me the feature set of the pioneer 1020, cut the amps and give me preouts. I refuse to believe there is no market for something like that. Bandphan I think you should make it happen.....make it happen Bandphan!
One can be built for your liking. You build computers now then and this wouldnt be much different;) IMO if your gear is all up to snuff and doesnt need a higher end prepro, buying an avr for a prepro is just fine. If you have a amp for your mains (and center if allowed) upgrading a avr evey 2-3 years for 5-6 hundred dollars seems ok in the hobby. This hobby isnt a whole in the pocket hobby when compared to something like offshore fishing;) I enjoy my music every day and it doesnt cost me $600 in gas:D

Oh, yeah, SHOCK could just build a new HTPC with nice sound cards for 7.1 analog output and just use the HTPC as the Pre-Pro.:D

I've been looking for a sound card that can decode TrueHD and DTS HD and pass it over analog and have yet to find one. I can find them that will output them over HDMI but that doesn't do me any good.

I have a perfectly good Athlon 64 3000+ system with a x800xl card in it that would work pretty well as a HTPC. Crappy thing is the x800xl is AGP and finding a socket 754 mATX motherboard nowadays is like pulling teeth.

You've inspired me and I'm going to check out how much it would cost to make a HTPC with all the fixin's. I'll make a post in after I've completed it.
