Questions about an already built system

I have just bought a foreclosure condo. It seems to be wired for audio but I'm not sure how it is wired or how to use it.

So what I have is the following:
There are 4 total banana plug wall mounts. There are 2 in the living room, one on each wall. And 2 in the master bedroom, one on each wall. There is also another outlet in the living room that had a blank cover over it and it has 2 sets of speaker wire that were left unfinished.

I have a receiver and a 5.1 surround system that I want to use for the living room. Is there a way to use the existing system or what was the current system designed for.

I have pictures that I can post, if that would be helpful.

It would be helpful use the post pad to get the necessary total.

Assuming the wall plates with binding posts have 2 posts each, it sounds like it is wired for stereo speakers in the living room and bedroom.

If the two sets of speaker wire behind the blank wall cover are 4 conductor wire (red, black, green, white) then the other ends of that set of wires are connected to the wall plates and you'd connect them to the receiver.

Pictures of the Setup

Thanks for the tips on padding.
Let me know what other information I could provide and how to find it.

Here are the pictures.

Figured it Out

Thanks for the responses. Like any retard once you say it out loud or in my version seek help on a forum. I figured out what was going on. The unfinished 2 sets are actually 4 sets with 2 wires in casing. So that is easy to tell that these 4 sets correspond to the 4 outlets I have in the house. I can easily test and figure out which wire goes where.
Thanks for the help.

Purchased a home with Speaker System Installed

I purchased a home with Speakers arleady installed in the ceilings. There is a hole in the wall with 10 bundles of red, green, white and black speaker wires. There is a total of 15 speakers throughout the house with 4 rooms with volume controls. There are not controls in the room with the speaker bundles and there is not one for the speakers outside. I am not sure what type of amplifier I need nor how to hook up the speakers. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

So are all of the wires from all of the rooms run to a single location or 'home run'?

If not, it sounds as though you will need a power source at each set of jacks by the wall to power the corresponding speakers for that room.

Yes, they all run to one location

How many individual speakers are there and how many for each room?

How many different sources are you thinking or are you planning to run the entire home with the same source?

Can you verify that the outlets for speaker wires in the room are independent of the speakers in the same room?
