Dual subs of different brands, plus a special problem with one of them

I'm sticking with my thought that it might have been port noise. Mine produced A LOT of port noise, more than any subwoofer I've ever owned. There was another thing I seem to remember it doing, the amp would crap out and make some pretty bad noises too. I took the sub apart once to see what was in there, and the amp was tiny.

You may be right, Seth. All I know (which ain't much, I admit) is what Athena told me. Funny, though -- I've read tons of great reviews of the P400, never heard any talk of port noise or a tiny amp. Still, it was a great sub while it lasted.

As of now, though, I'm raising my glass to SVS.

Okay I'll bite, what's in the glass besides ice....jk. Btw...have you had the chance to calibrate your oppo when using analog with the svs or are you content with digtial for now?

I calibrated the SVS on both digital and analog (can't get the Dolby TrueHD and DTSHD-MA without the analog), and strangely enough, there's a 12.5 dB difference between them. According to Oppo, there should be a 15 dB difference between the two. I calibrated using the Spears & Munsil disc, since I don't really trust the test tones in my receiver. The resulting bass sounds pretty good, although lately I've been feeling that it's just a tad weak. I've already bumped up the level 2 dB (for both digital and analog); I may experiment this weekend with bumping it up a bit more.
