I have a blu-ray player that's HDMI, but my receiver is not HDMI. I connected them using their "coaxial" jacks. I'm getting "DSP" sound, but I can"t get "DTS". My receiver is "DSP/Dolby/DTS" capable and I get "DTS" when using an "optical audio cable" with my other DVD player that is DSP/Dolby/DTS capable. My blu-ray does not have an optical port. I'm using the same 5.1 DTS movie with both the blu-ray player and the DVD player. Is it possible that "coaxial" outputs/inputs do not transmit DTS signals? THANKS!!!

NO!







But the player may be doing the DTS decoding prior to sending it out of the coaxial output. Hard to tell, without specific model information and what setting you are using.

P.S. If you really want to see the DTS logo light up on your receiver, there is probably a setting in your Bluray player for bitstream audio output, and this is what you should select.
