Hey all, new guy here...I have a 52" SHARP Aquos LED-LCD with a single HDMI output. I am trying to connect:
1. Cable Box 2. Blue Ray Player and 3. Speaker System (Soundbar or something similar)...If I connect the HDMI to a splitter, then connect my Cable Box and Blue Ray, can I still use the Audio out on the TV to connect to a Speaker system?...or does the HDMI shut down all the other Audio Outputs?...Thanx...Brian

HDMI output ? what model number, I have yet to see a residential display with a HDMI output. As for your connections you need to choose the soundbar to determine that.

I think he means the analog audio out from the TV.

Bjenne, you have it a little backwards. If you add a receiver or powered sound bar, you would send audio to it directly and only video would go to the display. The TV is the end of the chain, not the middle. With a receiver, everything could be fed to the receiver and then to the TV. Sound bars that function as a receiver also would work this way as well, though I think you may still need to run video to the TV with some.

Sorry--HDMI Inputs

The TV has a single HDMI connection. I have to manually switch the HDMI Cable from the Blue Ray Player to the Cable Box when I want to use either device and view it through the TV.

establish a budget and look at soundbars that will do hdmi switching (or receivers). You can buy a switch in the mean time, but if your gonna make the other purchases soon, Id wait. So you HDMI sources would be routed to a soundbar/ receiver and one HDMI from there to your display:)

Makes Sense

ok, it is all beginning to become clear...for some reason I thought I would need an HDMI spltter to change between devices. Just so I understand, I can feed the Blue Ray Player and the Cable Box into the Speaker receiver and then connect that to the TV via the HDMI INPUT.
