I have been looking for a new setup to replace my crappy sony's i have now. I have listened to many diffrent ones and found a couple i like. But the ones i really like are to far out of my budget. Since im more of a DYI type of person i started reading and looking and found these statment minis which fit my budget and the matching center . Has anyone heard or built any I really liked paradigm studio 60's how would they compare? This would be my first speaker build. Luckly i have my dad to help he planned and built the house there in now so he is up to the woodworking. I guess i just need a little reassurance to take on this project. I also plan on building a folded tuba sub at the same time.

The Mini-statements are a very high value system. The tweeter is the biggest single expense but very smooth.

It's a good speaker if you planning on being the one listening in the sweet spot. Off axis the ribbon won't be as dispersed as a dome tweeter. You could put the mini's up against some ~$3k-$4k systems and come away smiling.

The are not the easiest build but if you have some experienced help then go for it. Are you doing stereo or surround (center and surrounds)?

I plan on doing the center at the same time and running the Sony for rears for a short time. If I like how they sound and fit my room iveould move them to the back and build the full size statments. I was just wondering if anyone has heard them and how they compare to commerical speakers.

The Statements are a very big speaker. Be prepared. I would do the mini's with stereo subs before I would tackle The Statements as a L/R. They will do fine compared with commercial offerings.

The mini's will present you with about the same sound stage and imaging. Just less lower end punch (so get l/r subs).

I do plan on building a folded horn sub so low end would be taken care of.I think this weekend I'm going to start on cutting of the cabinets and order parts .
