KEF 10" Subwoofer Driver (best offer)

This is a 10" driver i took out of a KEF subwoofer. It is in perfect working condition the only reason i removed the driver from the sub was because the power supply in the sub went out, the driver has been tested to make sure it functions and if you do not agree it functions you may return it to me and i will pay you back. It can be used to replace any 10" bass or subwoofer driver in speaker cabinets, or subwoofers.

It can not be used to replace any 10" driver. Every driver is unique, and requires a unique enclosure design.

You seem to think everything is about driver size and moving air, and that's just simplistic nonsense.

fine let me re-phrase this since i have a bit more knowledge, the driver was originially designed for use as a subwoofer driver, in a sealed cabinet. and im willing to sell it for as low as 20 dollars.

That seems like a pretty good deal if somebody felt like putting together a sub on a budget. Can you post the original box specs? Should be pretty easy considering it came from a sealed enclosure...

The original box is 15.4 liters.

I think your JBL is a rear ported sub, so that driver will not work. You really can't swap different drivers around without downgrading performance a lot.

So you're saying it will sound even worse than the current driver, since the KEF driver was chosen for a very different box enclosure than the JBL? Not worth risking at all? I really don't like the fat bass on the JBL currently and was looking for a cheap and usable solution before spending on a new sub/kit.

Yes, driver box and port are a package. The KEF driver is for a sealed box and will have a very loose suspension, so apart from having the wrong T/S parameters, the woofer would likely self destruct in a ported box. Every driver needs a unique bix size and port, if it is ported.

yes, the driver does have very loose suspension. i tried putting it in a ported box at one time and the driver was going out further then its max excursion (for lack of better words) which made an annoying "snapping" sound. if your looking for a good sub-driver replacement try parts express, they sell drivers for rediculously low prices.

You're still better off not wasting your money on a "replacement" that still won't likely be optimal. Save that cash and build/buy a real sub. It would take a lot of effort to try to determine what driver "might" work in the box you have and the box/port would still likely have to be modified.

It's all physics, if the driver parameters, box resonance and porting don't match precisely you have a lousy sub. The T/S parameter vary widely among drivers, and you never get two that exactly match.
