Bear with me. Between toxic levels of noobness and my verbose nature, this may be difficult for you to get through
I cooked my 15 years old Sony receiver that was playing trough Infinity IL10's and a Polk psw350. While nice at high volumes for music, it was not a very balanced system IM(noob)O. And I'm getting older and not enjoying kicking out the jams so much anymore while in a drunken stupor
So I replaced the cooked sony with an Onkyo HTIB 7.1 HT 6200- much based on price point, input options, reviews. This system seems to be well matched, and the Audessy set up is just too cool- does a better job than me with set up. I'm generally very pleased with it, BUT......I have these IL10's and polk psw just laying around and in fine shape....

Questions:
Am I going to totally upset the matched and "as intended" HTIB apple cart by using the IL's as front L&R and maybe also the Polk?

The IL's are 8ohm and the Onkyo's are 6ohm. Is this a problem? Both 15-150 W rated.

Can the Audessy program compensate for whatever?

Am I going to undo what the Onkyo engineers did an admirable job of or more likely improve on a budget HTIB system that skimped on speakers?

Any comment on bi-amping the Infinities @ 5.1 vs staying with 7.1?

FWIW, I'm more into music fidelity than surround sound reality for movies. As of now I have the rear surrounds in a front high placement and ran audessy aferwards. Between my previous experience and also messing up some of my autos matched systems, I'm somewhat a beleiver in what engineers come up with as better than what I pull out of my arse. So I'm certianly open to opinons and experience form this forum!!

Thanks for trudging through this!!

I'd use the Infinities for the L-R disconnect the center. And re run the EQ system.

The Infinities are certainly better than the Onkyos I'd also use the polk sub instead of the Onkyo sub.
