Any thoughts. I have been reading some fantastic reviews on this speaker. The only concern is ported vs no ported. I am currantly running avr 2808ci Denon, paradigm 8in and the Monster 12in. The room sixe is 140 square foot room. Let me know what you think.

I highly doubt you will find any bad reviews. They are excellent subs. Monster shouldn't even be mentioned in the same paragraph.

The PB12 plus, especially the new ones are excellent subs, worth every penny. Check audiogon for used ones, you won't be dissapointed if you get one.

140sqft? Are you sure? That's the size of a really small bedroom. Even with a 10 foot ceiling that's only 1400cuft. A PB12 Plus would be awesome but will take up a ton of real estate. Have you considered a PC12 cylinder sub?

I own the new PB12 plus. In a room that small (if the room can be sealed) it will shake the stuffing out of you. My room is larger and is open to the rest of the house and it has plenty of power as long as I don't go crazy and run the sub hot and go reference level with it. (although I've never tried too...)

This sub can be also run sealed if you prefer it. It comes with port plugs and an adjustment switch on the amp from the factory.

In a small room, the PB12-Plus is overkill (which is just the way I like it).:D

However, if you want to get the extension in the lower frequencies, you will need a good, solid sub like this. The smaller, cheaper subs just won't go as deep and as powerful.

LOL...I had the PB13-Ultra in a room that was 120 sq ft haha, and I still wanted more ;)

I know it is completely unrelated to the subject and I apologize for jumping off track momentarily but quick question...

what does running a sub "HOT" mean??? or refer to???

I have heard the term used in a few posts now and I have been looking at purchasing a new sub and want to get edusubcated!

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Running hot just means playing the sub louder than a perfectly flat calibrated frequency response. The bass will be a little louder than the rest of the material.

Which sub hits the hardest? And are they so cosethat it is basicaly a personal choice. Lastly does eiher sub have an advantage over the other?

I agree with Stronbadf1 ..I also have a PB12 plus in a much large open room and it doesn't lack for ooomph at all. Very nice sub but might be overkill for 1400 sqft. ... I am running closer to 4000 sq ft with 9 ft ceilings.

Peace, Good SUB, Good Sound,

Forest Man:)
