Musical Fidelity "The Preamp" - the early one !

I've got one of the very early (and basic, but very good) model's of The Preamp - looks hand made and from what I've read it may well have been - on a kitchen table maybe as the forerunner MF Preamp.

I love the performance of it - hasn't been used for 10 years or so, got it out of hibernation and it is great. Here's the dilemna - do I invest in more kit to truly exploit it, or do I replace it with something more modern ?

It is limited on inputs, but for vinyl it is truly magnificent. Any one have any idea or the rarity and value of this ? I brought it second hand back in late 80's for a not insignificant figure, but I suspect there aren't many around to benchmark against now.

How old is it? If it was made more than 20-30 years ago, I would replace the electrolytic caps because they can go bad over time and from not being used. The other caps in the signal path should be changed because the caps available now are better than the ones from hte time when it was made.

Why don't you go to the post pad thread and put some photos up here?
