No, I'm more of an audio guy too, but once I got a taste of HD I had to upgrade like the true audioholic I am.

I had a 27inch Sony CRT until just last year. The image quality was really quite excellent, too. Good CRTs look nice...even if they're way too small.

Bad CRTs are horrific - but so are bad LCDs.

The trouble with CRTs is they just look weird now. It's like seeing one of those old mobile phones.

NSFW - No nudity, but bad language.

My last Sony CRT gave up years ago. I have a 37" Sharp Aquos and a 37" Toshiba Regza.

I just gave away my 34" CRT in Jan. My grandmother needed a new TV and this is a lot nicer than what she had :) Nobody on Craigslist wanted it, so it kind of worked out that her TV happened to die.

I'm using a 32" HD CRT in my bedroom. It's HDMI input went out, but the picture is ok and I don't need anything beyond component in the bedroom.

Three TV in the house... 36" CRT, 32" CRT, and a 42" Plasma I just bought a couple of months ago...it's in my bedroom!:D

I'm in process of getting a bigger flat panel for the family/HT room. I'm moving turtle fast on it...:) (Jamie likes turtles!;):D)

I have two CRTs left. My plasma is in my main system but I have a 32" Panasonic CRT from 1995 in one bedroom and a 27" Sanyo CRT from 2000 in another. Both have very good image quality. I still have an old Sanyo from 1977 sitting around unused. It actually still has a very good image. I calibrated it with a DVE disc just for fun and it performed surprisingly well after I adjusted the drive/bias.

I still use a Sony 34BXBR

It does high def, but like the OP I too tend to focus more on audio. I do plan to get a 42"-50" set relatively soon though.

I had an old Sony Wega 36" CRT. It had been sitting around, But I built a Lake/Woods cabin. I forgot how bad 480i looked. ( my PRO- 151FD kind of spoiled me  ) I have a replacement ordered. I offered the TV to people in the addition for FREE to haul off.

I am really into HT, especially PQ

Far from being "stuck" with a CRT, I actually still prefer them for watching anything but HD, as anything but true HD TV looks totally unacceptable to me on the new flat panels, regardless of what type. I couldn't image how bad a VHS tape would look on one, as most regular programing and non-HD stuff I've seen on the things already looks worse than a VHS!

I also still use a CRT CPU monitor as well. Although not nearly as drastic as large flat panel TV's, non-HD photos and videos look softer, more natural and less artificially bright then most flat panel CPU monitors. To put it in a nut-shell, CRTs just simply just look better to me with non HD programming.

I must be one of the few human beings who notices this, considering how many people have been duped into buying LCD/Plasmas lock stock and barrel without question. Although my non-enthusiast friend also agrees with me on the image problems with flat panels, and he uses both flat panel (high quality programming only) and CRT TVs for everything else.

People are also practically just throwing away their beautiful and expensive Sony Trinitron and WEGA CRT's for next to nothing, which I'm somewhat thankful for, as I can now easily buy and enjoy them. I wonder if anybody regrets it?

Although true HD TV is an awesome wonder to behold, around 90% of the stuff I might watch and care about at this time is not in true HD, and all the great stuff from the past shot in non-HD will never be in true HD, just as my old mono only audio recordings can never be in true stereo.

I will continue to keep an open mind about Plasma/LCD TV's, and I might buy one some day just to use for HD only. But until somebody finds out a way to make older non-HD and regular TV programming look good on a flat panel, I will be standing at the back of the line.

I have a 36" JVC CRT which the kids mostly watch PBS catoons on and a front projection (LCD) theater for movies, the PS3, and some HDTV. The JVC is not even a good CRT, but I do not watch enough TV to care at all about replacing it, other than the fact that it is so darn heavy, I am not moving it again except to the curb. If the wife wants to rearrange the room again, we are getting an LCD/plasma first!

I would like to upgrade my old 27" JVC CRT, but it looks fine and I use it maybe 5-6 hours a month. HDTV's are still pretty pricey, and purchasing one would funnel away cash from my audio hobby. Someday...
