Dropped off Oppo-83 for upgrade...

From what I've read, the improvement is only on the Analog outputs on the Oppo. I have the 83 and am considering either purchasing the SE or upgrading mine. I need a new Blu-Ray for my bedroom system I am updating. Do you guys know if it is just the multi-channel analog outputs that are improved, or both multichannel and the 2 channel analog out?

Has anyone done a comparison between the new SE and the Emotiva ERC-1? The emotiva supposedly upsamples to 384k. I'm not sure if I should get an SE or just add an Emotiva or another high quality CD player to my system. The idea of balanced Analog outputs is preferred, but I don't necessarily now if it will make that much of a difference...

The BDP-83SE upgrade affects both the stereo analog output and the 7.1 analog output. Both sets of outputs are upgraded to ESS DAC's.

Probably worth the upgrade for me then. Do you think that the Oppo SE will be superior in sound to the Emotiva ERC-1?

I've never heard the ERC-1 or read much about it. Does the option to have SACD, DVD-A, and Blu-ray support matter for your planned application?

I already have the BDP-83. I have DVD-A, and SACD's already and play them through my existing player. I was just debating whether it was worth it to purchase an SE version and move my existing unit to my bedroom, or to just go with the ERC-1 and buy a cheaper Blu-Ray for the bedroom...
