Any owners of B&W 803D ?

The 802D needs not a sub for music.

It depends on what kind of music you listen to.

If you listen to Bach's organ music that goes down to 20Hz, the 802D's -3dB bass limit is ~ 40Hz:

Jeepers, sorry for hijacking your thread, but I would say that you should consider getting a sub even if you use 802's. For HT it is a necessity and you will not get anywhere near the low frequency response out of the 802's alone.

I typically play my 802's at full frequency, but certain music will distort them when pushing too much bass to them. If you will be doing any HT listening, definitely get a sub.

Keep my B&W speakers or upgrade to Sonus Faber Cremona's in the front, Cremona Center and Auditors in the rear? I have the Auditors already in my bedroom and really like them. I demoed Cremona's at my dealer, but obviously the room they were in was treated and much more acoustically friendly then my family room.

The clarity and soundstage was amazing. The most impressive thing though was at very low volume levels, the speakers still threw out a very wide and deep soundfield with the vocals fixed firmly centered. My B&W's don't do that. I need a decent amount of volume to get the soundfield to open up. It seemed the Sonus Faber's were more efficient and clearer.

Home demo isn't an option, so I'm trying to get some feedback and opinions before making the move...

No worries Gregg. In post 10 (roughly 2 weeks ago) I mentioned that meanwhile, in reality Dec 2008, I purchased a 803D, HTM2D and the sub ASW825 which I use for both HT and music.

Typically, yes I do. I'm very happy with the speakers in HT mode. In Stereo mode, I think I might be able to do better with imaging and clarity. The speakers are good, don't get me wrong, but sometimes for music, they seem a bit bright and the sound field isn't as wide and deep as I think I could be getting.
