Wow, this turned out better than I thought it would.

First off...my $19 MonoPrice mount-

Then...my little piece of patio heaven-

We also installed 2 "can" lights and a flood light.

The wife didn't like just the ceiling fan light so she wanted the can lights and I needed a good flood for when we play volleyball at night.

This was the first project I have every done where everything went just right. We probably spent 5 hours of pretty solid work getting it done. I think I came out ahead. Since my brother in law is an electrician and he owed me 100 bucks, I got him to do it for free. I was more or less the goffer except I dropped the video and ethernet cables and did the AVR set up.

This is taken from the back wall of the pool

I think it's good that you didn't eliminate the fan. It should work for bug control to some extent.
Of course all I can think is that you have the perfect cognac and cigar set up now that I don't drink or smoke.

The set up looks ... very tempting.
I'm starting to think you might be an agent of darkness for Pete's sake.
Where do I sign? :)

Hope you live in a gated community. That flatscreen wouldn't last a week around here. I sometimes worry about my $80 patio speakers will get legs and walk away. Nice setup.

My best friend is in charge of the police department in my town and he keeps a car parked outside of my back fence most of the time. Between that and the dog, I doubt anyone will enter my back yard.

Come over and you can start drinking and smoking again.

Thanks Dawg! Just when I had run out of ideas, and started putting back a few bucks. Now I will never be satisfied with my 17" SD LCD in front of the jacuzzi.

I figured you had to have at least one of the two, putting that on the wall outside. I'm happy for you!

So how is the power and other cabling run to the display through the brick?

Outlet behind the display for power. AV cables through the brick, up the wall, through the ceiling and down the wall to the AVR.

I was hoping for more info, like did you have to sawcut an electrical box into the bricks, or just take out a whole brick.........did you have to drill a large hole through the brick, etc etc? Thnx.

I had the outlet put there when I built the house. My Brother in Law did all the drilling when I was up in the attic. He had all kinds of tools; like a hammer drill, a bit the size of me and some fancy tool that hammered in the anchors for the mount. The mount is in the brick and the wires go through the mortar.
