I take it this was a civil suit? I hope she was charged with DUI at least.

I have no first hand experience with this ;) but i've heard that the clubs encourage the girls to drink with the men and have them buy them drinks to build revenue and tips. if this is the case and drinking is encouraged then i woudl say the club however much they say they protest to them leaving i bet its a pretty regular occurance.

i've aalso heard that many strippers are paying their way through med school while doing this. so its really a system thats not paid by the tax payers to get single moms better jobs ;)

Seriously, I have no life.
"A two drink minimum for dancers. Their other policy was that in the event that a dancer became intoxicated, she would be confined to the bar until she was able to drive or they would call someone to come get her."

Two drink minimum for the dancers? That's usually the minimum for patrons, not dancers. I have seen, err, heard about, dancers who are completely gooned by the end of the night. Hopefully, they have the sense to take a cab.

Supposedly she tried to leave 3 times and was stopped by the bouncers. It was the fourth time that she was able to escape. Stupid broad.

the problem lies in whats implied..they say all the right stuff in court, maybe even have it in writing..

BUT

the bar probably expects them to get to work on their own.. as in drive themselves.. they probably arent willing to pay for the cab ride even though they are responsible for getting them drunk.. and are most liekly not willing to have a cab pick them up so they arent in a position to "have" to drive home sicne they need theri car to get kids to school or whatever there is probably alot of pressure on them to just make stuff happen and the bar turns a blind eye.

I think if the club has rules about making them drink at work then they shoudl be responsible for getting them to and from work

I think that the problem lies in someone who drinks until stoned drunk. Does other drugs to make sure that reality is as fuzzy as possible. Sneaks past the guys who are being paid to stop her from driving drunk. And then sues someone else to take responsibility for her actions.

is it a requirement to drink on this job? 2 drink minimum.. yes
is it expected that the dancers get a little drunk? yes
is it expected that they drive themselves home? yes
how many dancers do they have coming and going at any given time compared to how many bouncers? is it realistic fo rthe bouncers to stop and check how drunk someone is?

and someone who drinks daily while probably has other issues(obviously) gets to the point where they are functional and may be able to appear not as drunk as they may really be..

yes she drove.. but I do think the strip club has fault

Captian Devil's Advocate to the rescue!!!

Um, this is he-said-she-said crap. How do we know the truth of any aspect of either side of this story? For all we know, they DID have that policy at that time and they TOSSED her out to drive drunk when the night was over. She doesn't remember that night, which throws any claims she makes totally out.

Seriously, this is not even newsworthy because there are no FACTS in this case. It's all conjecture and fingerpointing.

Has fault, or is at fault?

At face value, I'd say has. If such a policy did exist, they do carry some of the fault. No job, unless you are a liquor tester, should require drinking any amount of liquor. Period. Talk about an OSHA violation!

I've got to believe that is a typo in the story. I could see a policy that says 2 drink "maximum", as it might help mitigate the club's liability in the event of something like this. Chances are they ignore the rule, and as they are serving the drinks they take on a lot of responsibility.

If they actually required the strippers to drink then I would think Patsy is looking at a much larger award. But that just doesn't make sense, even in Alafreakingbama. :D

thank you :)

like you said look at this for face value.. are strip clubs run by the most ethical people? is it a like it or take a hike kind of job that exploits women who are to a degree easy to manipulate..

do you think these owners are reall worried about the girls after they leave?

Oh, I don't think the club owners are saints by any means. But she drank the drinks, took the drugs, snuck out, drove drunk, caused an accident, and then blamed someone else for what she did. I could never defend that.

Only we don't know for a fact that this sequence of events is what happened. That's why it's a civil matter. There is no "reasonable doubt" to be negated.

But conjecture and finger pointing are so much fun.

I LOVE how she doesn't remember that night, but she conveniently remembers that she didn't have any drinks before she went to the club.
