Hi Everyone,

This is for a good cause!! I have donated a Runco 980 Super IDTV II to a local church but I don't know how to set it up. I have watched a setup and have purchased a setup disc from Curt's website but I am not comfortable in taking this on by myself. The projector is in great condition. It was in my home theater until I upgraded to a G90. Location is Cary, NC. Is there anyone able to help me get this projector setup for this church. Lunch and Dinner is on me!! Thanks.

If this is a 3-gun CRT, I would not for a second consider putting it in a church environment. The maintenance requirements to keep 3-guns properly setup and the required (not optional) low light specifications for CRT projection is tremedous.

It's far better to sell a unit like this and use the proceeds to get a cheap LCD projector from Epson. The projector will setup in minutes, will be far brighter, and service, connectivity, reliability, and maintenance will be far, far higher than the Runco.

Thank you for your reply. You are correct getting an LCD projector would be easier but I was willing to maintain the CRT projector once I learned more of how to do it. The church as a school building that has a rather large multipurpose room. No windows and it can be made very dark in the room. I have configured the CRT on a cart with a line doubler and DVD player. The church has amplified speakers that can be connected. I thought that once the CRT was calibrated, I would mark on the floor the cart location and they would be set. I have a personal interest in learning how to set up a CRT. I have 2 CRT's at home. My theater room has a G90 and I have another Runco 980 that was my backup to the one I donated to the church. I love the CRT and will have one for years to come. I have read alot about CRT's but want to go to a higher level by getting hands-on. I just have not been able to find a friend in the area to talk with. Thank you very much for your feedback, I do appreciate it...
