Netflix to delay availability of new releases?

How does waiting 28 more days change anything? It's only a month more of a wait. You've already waited several months and the turn around on movies is still better than it was a decade ago. As far as netflix delaying shipments to abusers of their service. I'm glad to hear they don't stick it to us average users.

This doesn't change anything IMO. It's not like there are a ton of good new releases anyway.

There might be 1 or 2 good movies a year and I buy them to show my support for excellent film makers. The rest I can wait a few years to watch if necessary. ;)
Agree.

The Netflix turn-around time on movies for me is awesome. I send it today (Monday), they send me a new one tomorrow in the mail (Tuesday), and I get it the very next day (Wednesday). Totally awesome.:D

If I need money, I just go to a store, buy a pack of gum and get cash back. FREE.
This won't be the case for too much longer. Retailers and banks are getting hammered by fees from Visa (who owns the network) for usage of debit cards. It's quite possible that stores could start charging customers who want to get additional money back on their purchases. There was an interesting article in the WSJ earlier this week....

Back on topic- I don't see this as a huge issue with Netflix. 99.5% of the public isn't even going to know the difference.

What I personally want to see is quicker availability of TV shows for streaming purposes. It sucks that there are recent seasons of shows (e.g. Weeds, Mad Men, Dexter) that you cannot get streaming. When you're trying to catch up on a new show, it's really annoying to have to deal with multiple discs, particularly if you're at or near your limit and have to send something else back.

If my plan was 3 disks at home and "about" one business day for shipping, it wasn't mentioned nowhere regarding monthly usage limits - So how do you see ex-Netflix customer like me as abuser?
What exactly was I abusing? What If I was bored and had serious movie addiction? Why is it totally unrealistic to watch 3 dvds in same day?

The opposite : Have each dvd at home for periods of several weeks or more - I call huge waste of money and you'd be better off buying these DVD at walmart.

Maybe I miss read the article. I thought that was exactly what this provides to Netflix...a more open catalog of movies and TV shows for streaming.

As a Neflix customer....the above WB news is obviously not good. For now, I'm not canceling my account based on the press release. I already buy the BD's that 'I REALLY WANT'.....and I also rent from FLIX.

I'll roll with the punches...if a better better renting alternative presents itself, I'll do whatever I think is best for my renting preferences when that time comes.
That is what is great about living in the US of A.....we have choices. If netflix wants to do this then fine. They may or may not suffer the consequences..only time will tell.

For now.......it is what it is and I'm not that concerned. If/when there is a better renting alternative that presents itself....I'll take it. For now, netflix is the best for me.

just sayin'...

Thats no suprise to me, the Movie Studios will do anything to get you to buy a DVD/BD. BD is way to expensive at the moment especially for newer movies, but like anything else you can find a deal online, If you plan on buying locally then forget about it. The Star Trek movie I found online for 19.99 from Wal-mart but if I bought from their B&M store here it was $30 before tax. So the Movie Studios decide to offer a bare bones movie to rental places and of course the so called premium version of same movie for us to buy I'm not surprised.

At least with blockbuster you can exchange your movies received via the mail for in-store exchanges for a small amount over the mail only service. This is nice for new releases that may have a wait if you get them via mail. And they don't charge extra for blu ray either.

When I first created my Blockbuster account, I noticed that the New Releases were in the same situation where there is a wait... BUT, they don't charge for Blurays and I can do in store exchanges so I'm happier taking this route...

plus, in the past as a Netflix customer I would still jump to Blockbuster occasionally anyway, NOW I can return my rental and get something new with no additional cost.

I just wish Blockbuster would offer streaming via PS3, Xbox 360, PC, etc... like Netflix does, for no extra charge, but maybe they will offer that in the future.

That part wasn't as concerning since the quality is so HORRIBLE with the streamed video.

Blockbuster has some good points, so does Netflix, so... I guess it's six of one, half a dozen of the other...

I think once Redbox gets more blu rays in their machines, things will really get better for the consumer. I'd happily pay $2 a night to rent a blu ray.

I didn't know Redbox did Blurays... and yeah, I'll be on Redbox like a cheap suit if they get a decent selection of Blurays!!!!
