except for the language barrier ... it's my new favorite place!

i found this sushi buffet place ... mmmmmmm mmmmmmm!

did i mention it was a buffet? and i don't mean sushi already made on a big table, i mean, the sushi chef makes the sushi as you order them!

i'll start with sushi and sashimi pics:

such juicy big scallops

Uni (Sea Urchin) that just disintegrates in your mouth, Ikura (Fish Roe) that pops as you bite into it

it doesn't taste good, i don't understand why the need to eat this.

Horse Sashimi

yes i said Horse. i could only stomach one bite ... i don't recommend these two unless you're a werewolf or a vampire.

Welcome Back Kotter--no wait that was a 70's tv show-- I mean Mike! ;):p;) Hope your trip to Japan was everything you envisioned it to be. Did you happen to snap some photos of the local culture? If so, please share with the rest of us. I want to go to Japan one day myself.

Cheers,

Phil

Everybody know whale is best served fried with mashed potatoes and gravy. ;)

yes it is :) i asked a local contact how to find places with "fresh sushi". he looked at me and said "the restaurants just won't serve the sushi if they aren't fresh" "otherwise, people wouldn't come back" kinda like a 'duh' moment for me. i guess he doesn't know how many philippine-japanese restaurants serve crappy sushi. :D

Not at all... although you probably needed more than one courtesy flush the next day
that's what i thought too, second round of bombing of japan ...
but i guess because it was all fresh and not greasy nor processed ... i was great! :D

tastes like chicken... raw chicken.

i'm gonna use some office time to load some pics, though most of my pics are a disaster again. 'spray and pray' type of photography is not too efficient.

ooh, i forgot to request for it in that way :D

i don't have many pics of tempura ... they're not all served at once, so you can eat them freshly fried - so they didn't stay very long on the plate.

notice the paper under the tempura doesn't have much oil.

the restaurants in Japan have specialties, like for example if they serve sushi, they serve sushi only ... tempura is the only food type that we tried twice this trip.

let me check if i have pics of the eel place ...
