I know what you are saying. I used to have a bunch of accounts in Minneapolis so I have seen real snow but come on...there is almost 4" of snow this morning in Texas! 2 days ago I was golfing without a jacket.
That's not snow, its dust!

Yeah and when you have idiots driving 90 in the snow it makes the situation dicey.

Still it's the most snow we've had in 3 decades. :D

The old 1948 John Deere has thrown up some pretty good snow banks. Those two cylinder Waterloo engines really have torque. They just keep pushing even when you can count the cylinders firing. A simply gorgeous sound when working hard. There are lots of JD 2 cylinder Waterloo tractors working round here. Some are now 75 or more years old. John Deere still supply the parts, even for the original 1923 Model Ds and continue to train the parts people on the old Waterloo and Dubuque two cylinder tractors. I use the dealer in Grand Forks ND still, and they seem to know these tractors backwards at the parts desk. I think John Deere have a lesson to teach all manufacturers somehow.

We have the rest of February, March and April to go. The snowiest months here tend to be November, December, March and lately April. So the piles might get bigger.

Nice view of Benedict Lake.

In addition to clearing this lot, I keep next door clear and the place next to that, as well as a half mile of road. Where my private road, takes of form the Township road, I have to pile up big snow banks at the intersection, so the school bus can turn round. Apparently the Steamboat township does not have the funds to send out a front end loader as well as a grader to clear the township roads, so that part seems down to me. The bus got stuck Tuesday, as I did not get back from Eagan until 3.00 PM. I worked past dark and was working with the fore and aft floods on the Model A.

We have very little snow here, which is disappointing in that I can't take my daughter tobogganing or build a snowman with her.

On the other hand, I have only had to shovel my driveway twice - so far. Plus, I live in a pretty hilly area and my 2-wheel-drive Ranger does NOT like snow.

You guys can keep the snow.:)

Dec 18-19 20" - Snowmageddon

Jan 16(?) 6" - No name

Jan 30 8" - No name

Feb 5-6 30" - Snowpocalypse

Feb 9-10 11" - Snowverkill

I believe the official total accumulation is 56" (my own unofficial measurements are shown above), an all-time record for snowfall for the Washington, DC area and more than Buffalo, NY has this year.

Its still early February, and we are running out of names for the storms and space to put the snow!

That is a lot of snow and close to the amount of snow in the Red River Valley prior to the great flood of 1997. We had 95 inches in Grand Forks ND and they had 106 inches in Fargo.

I was in Grand Forks Wednesday, and the snow banks are very high. There was a lot of snow from the divide at Bagley MN, 90 miles from Grand Forks, all the way to the Red River. I fear for the Red River Valley residents again this year. So please give them a thought. They go through horrid conditions too many years. I have never seen such a resilient population.

Here is a blog I put together, for Dr Tim Mahoney, a Fargo surgeon who I served with on the Blue Cross, Blue Shield Board of ND for many years. He is president of the City council in Fargo. They are pushing hard for a diversion, but as usual the American Army Corps of engineers continue to be incompetent.

We ended up with 12.5", which was a record for us.

How's that TLS?

When you get up around double that accumulation, I'll start to sympathize...:p

Nonsense. :p

I used to live and serve my military service in the areas TLSGuy references a few posts back. Sure, the accumulations are, and can be double what we've experienced in the DC Metro area. However, being a metropolitan area, we have a large concentration of people. Mixing even 2" of snow + a bunch of silly drivers = one big ol' mess!

So it snowed pretty significantly here in Charleston, SC tonight, so I thought I'd snap some pics of it! I'd also like to note that driving my new car in the snow is intensely fun, I loved it! For a 300hp RWD V8, she handled it really well.

All of these were taken between 12 and 1AM.
