What subwoofer should I get?

Those are my speaker specs. What subwoofer should I add too them? I am on a bit of a budget...I've heard good things about Dayton. Would you recommend the 80, 100, 120? Something else entirely? It'd probably need to be powered, though. D;

Aren't you the guy who fried his tweeters when he played a test tone too loudly? Did you ever get your speakers fixed?

If you want a nice sounding musical sub, I wouldn't even bother with the Dayton's. For an inexpensive studio monitor system, I would go for the ED A3s-250, the Hsu STF1, STF2, or the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Compact. Sure they cost more, but why muddy up the nice crisp sound of KRK studio monitors with a boomy subwoofer? Get something that will match your speakers and do justice to them.

Wow! Those are a little pricey for me...I wouldn't be better off getting KRK's own matching sub for that money?

Though if it's better to have no sub with these speakers than something 200$ or less, then I guess I'll go on subless for now. D;

If you don't mind a refrigerator sized sub, you can have excellent SQ and ridiculous output, on an extremely reasonable budget.

If I did this, I'd have a friend help me.

aka Tuba folded horn sub. $15 for plans. And after asking Matt, he said roughly $275 outside of the existing amp. Then he said that it outperformed his dual Kappa Perfect builds, in both output and SQ. Mind you, a single Kappa build will already blow away anything that is probably on your radar.

The Kappa build is a sticky in the DIY subforum . . .

I've never built any sub or speaker, but if I did it all over again today . . .

And that is tempting, but I've never built anything in my life, and that is outside my budget for now. ;[

Wow, well, if you don't mind at all, start saving those pennies. Do it right the first time. It'll save you in the end anyways. Perhaps a year from now. Or sell off some of those stamps and coins. In the meanwhile, think of which friends are handy with woodworking. Offer a barter of services, or some pizza and beer perhaps.
