Difficulty Leaving Threads

I'm having difficulty leaving a very few threads. Not all threads but some. When I hit the back button Firefox (3.6 current build) will stop and warn me that it will have to resend information to go back. I have cleared cookies and it's still doing this but like I said only with a few threads. It's like there is some code on that page that Firefox does not like.

Here is an example that consistently refuses to let me back out of the thread:

I'm not having any trouble. Even if I go to the thread via the 'General' sub forum I can still back out or proceed forward. If you don't get the answer here try the HTPC forum. Wall to wall computer geeks there. You're one too IIRC. :)

This may have something to do with the mouse over pain in the ads that are on this site. When this happened to me the other night in IE 8 the address I was going back through was some shopping site. It does not seem to happen for me with Firefox.

It sounds like your interweb browser is having abandonment issues and does not want to leave the current page. :)

If I recall there is a setting in the "about:config" section of FF, but I am about to leave work and don't have time to fiddle with it....

I will have a look see when I get home.

Found it....

So if you go to "about:config" in a new tab.....

Then locate the "browser.sessionstore.postdata" string and you can change it to "1".

This could be a different issue though as you have not provided the event log info or the message back verbatim.

Hope that helps.

It's because there is something on the page that was retrieved via HTTP POST. If you change the setting krzywica mentioned it wouldn't happen anymore...but, you can eliminate the problem by changing the way you view and read new threads.

When you log in to the forums, click on 'New Posts' to get a list of the new threads. Then for each thread you want to read, open it in a new tab or new window and close that tab or window when you are done. This way you never have to use the back button to go back to the list of new threads. When you are done reading and/or replying to the threads that interest you, click on Quick Links->Mark forums read.
