I'm very excited about this, can't wait to hear the bullets whizzing by in lossless audio!

No specs were given, but I would expect at least a dts-HD MA track, or maybe an uncompressed track? :)

Of lesser note, Paramount also announced that they would be releasing a remastered version of Gladiator with a newly redone 1080p transfer. No word on an upgrade program, but if they offer one I will be all over it. I haven't even watched this one yet, except for key scenes. I watched Braveheart as soon as I bought it.

Seriously, why don't they just do it right the first time?! Just as I think we discussed recently, Gangs of New York has finally got a new transfer, and that one is known to be extremely bad. I would say to not get me started, but I guess it's too late. :p

The last time I saw Saving Private Ryan, it was on VHS. I don't know that I could take it in 1080P and surround.

About frickin' time!!! Seriously, what the hell is Speilberg and Lucas' problem?!?! Put your movies on BD already!!!

Hopefully, they'll still be doing the $10 rebate program when this one comes out.

Some scenes in this movie affected me so much I have only watched it once. After watching the History Channels's WWII documentaries that were on a month or so ago it really brings home how realistic the Normandy scenes were in Private Ryan. Amazing movie and extremely intense.

Yes this BD release was an absolute atrocity. Its bad when your girlfriend says "why does that look so fuzzy/grainy" and you haven't even gotten to the opening scene yet.

It looks noticeably better than the SD DVDs, but it definitely isn't a good looking title.

This one is sapphire series, so it should have the rebate. They denied my rebates for Gladiator and Braveheart, so I am not a fan of that stupid program.

The upscaled HDTV looks better than the BD transfer. I would consider that to be an epic fail. :)

How could they deny the rebate, it's their stupid program?!?!

I still haven't received my Braveheart money yet. They better not try and deny me.

I've read a LOT of complaints of them denying the rebates for the dumbest things. The previous one, for whatever movie it was, I actually got, but it took them MONTHS before they sent it out. I got Forrest Gump as a gift, so not sure how to get a receipt to try and get that one. Maybe buy it and return it at Frys? I was actually thinking about buying both Braveheart and Gladiator again and then giving them to my dad and using the receipts to submit my refund again.

Seriously, I have no life.

And what is worse about it is that it is supposed to be a high grade special release, Platinum, or something.
I resisted getting it so I will get the remastered one as word gets out about the quality.

I have the DVD DTS version and it is stunning! I bet the lossless will not be much better.

I agree...the sound on that DVD is so good I think any improvements will be minimal, but that won't stop me from buying.
