Hi there
I have a bit of a problem. I have a projector with only 1 DVI slot, but i have 2 devices( xbox and HD TV Box) that i want to connect. at the moment i keep having to disconnect each time i want to use the other device.Really annoying as its hard to get to. I know u can get a HDMI Switch, 2 inputs/1 output but the only problem is that my xbox doesnt have a HDMI cable as it is an older model. Therefor is has a RGB to DVI adapter.
So i want to know. Can i use a DVI female to HDMI male, on the RBG to DVI male adapter. therefore i would be able to get a HDMI Switch, 2 inputs/1 output going and be able to connect both devices .

PLEASE HELP ME. IM A BIT CLUELESS as i might have picked up.

thanks
steve

You can use DVI-HDMI adapters with no problem because they're both digital signals. Any time you use component/VGA-HDMI/DVI, it needs to be converted.

Does that mean i can connect the xbox RGBtoDVI to a DVItoHDMI and then into a HDMI Switch, 2 inputs/1 output

can you answer the other question asked:rolleyes: If the FP has a component input, get a component switch and skip dvi/hdmi

I don't think that will work, as the switch must have repeater architecture, which your display is not required to have as it as end device. That will not work with DVI. So your peripheral that uses DVI will not pass through the switch, or should not by current HDCP codes.

sorry mate
as i say im very clueless.
what is a FP?
FP - Front Projector. What bandphan is asking is what other types of connections does the projector have? If it has a component connection then use that for the HD TV box and the DVI or the xBox.

Thing is my FP only has one DVI connection. and then a yellow video connection, and s video. if i connect the HD TV box into the yellow video connection its wont get HD picture on the screen.
Is there no way i can rig this up?
