New House=New H/T

Well I guess I would be lying a little if I said new H/T....but it has a completely new room to dance around in.

Been working on this for the last week.....finally got around to taking some pics last night with my droid. The image quality isn't the best as its rather low light. Wapdrv is coming over tonight to help me hang the TV and I will be making a bracket to mount the center channel to the back of the TV mount.

This is still very much a work in progress but I thought I would share the build thus far.

Also not the in wall speakers that were installed when I got there. Patrick informed me that "I don't even need a sub if I were to hook those bad boys up".

Looks like it is going to be a killer room for you. Are you going to really put the TV over the fireplace? You did see davidtwotrees incident?

I saw the open drivers in the equipment room. What are those things? Is it just a woofer or are they full range drivers?

Yes I am really going to mount it above the fireplace, but I don't have a mantle, so all the heat will be sucked right up against the brick, making the articulating wall mount that I got work perfectly as the TV will be a good foot off of the wall. This will work perfectly as the fireplace is very low, I really lucked out as I would NOT be mounting the TV there if the fireplace was any higher.

I think they are full range drivers....I am a little tempted to try them out but whoever painted the room painted over the grills. I have no idea what brand they are...haven't had time at all to monkey around in the house at all......just moved in last weekend and I still don't have my couches and big stuff moved over yet.

Wow, cool. Ok, just to clarify, this is a dedicated HT? If so, I am giving a hearty vote towards front projection and painting the walls.

Yeah I would be on that in a heartbeat.....but as I am renting the house currently thats not an option.

I may buy it down the road but the homeowner would have to fix some stuff first.....

Thanks for the suggestion.....I have been wanting to get into FP for quite some time and this would be the perfect room for it for sure....I can visualize the in ceiling fully motorized 110" screen right now....*drool*

Motorized may be cool, but is unnecessary, and the only benefit is the convenience.

You can always take your PJ to your next residence. You can also take the mount with you, just patch up the spot when you leave.

If it must be setup so that the screen falls over the flat panel, and you want to do this on the cheap (if only because this may be for the short haul), then I recommend DaLite High Power manual for roughly $250. There should be some available ceiling mount brackets that I doubt would cost too much. This screen is the best choice for a non-tab-tensioned screen ($$$$) as the waves are difficult to see after time (and according to many testimonials, it's impossible to see). It's what use, and I notice it maybe for a short moment, once for every several movie viewings, or something like that.

No one, not a single soul, ever, ever, has noticed it at my place, besides me. I have friends who have probably seen 50+ movies at my place, too.

$250 for a nice, universal, super adjustable mount/pipe.

Whatever else you have left on the PJ.

It would prove difficult as I don't mind patching after I leave the place, which is the bottom line when making mods to a rental, if the owner can tell you did anything after you leave. But I'm not sure how I would fix the specific ceiling at this place...its an old school type fiberglass tile that is separate pieces all glued together. Makes for an excellent acoustic room though thats for sure. My last room was all hard surfaces, I must say this sounds SO much better, even though I have only done a few hours of listening with limited calibration.

That is a most unpleasant thought! However, I think my chances of survival are somewhat decent, because I think there is a good chance she will really enjoy it too.

Oh, I don't know. Ok, for the PJ, how about a little table that is just a bit higher than the couch back? Place the PJ there. If going with HP screen, this will maximize its retroreflective gain as well. This material is also the best at rejecting offaxis ambient light. In fact, if you were given only one wall to darken with this screen, the back wall would be it (whereas with most other screens it might be the ceiling), and it appears that's where it is darkest in that room. The mirror may mildly negate this advantage, but I don't know to what extent, and I suppose you might be able to rig up a curtain to cover it for movie watching, although I doubt you really have to in order to enjoy watching.

Then for the screen, after making sure the tiles' strength is enough, just a couple of bolts, S hooks or something? It would then be just two relatively small holes to cover, up on the ceiling (hopefully less evident up there). If you are allowed to paint the room darker for now, perhaps repainting white later can help mask the holes better.

So I did some Polish-American engineering this weekend and made a center channel mount.

Yeah Patrick was over and he suggested that I could fit a lot more subs in that room.....for instance at least a few 15's in the places behind the left a right speakers.....like the single sub doesn't pressurize the room enough already.

I will have to take some pictures with an actual camera once I get everything setup perfectly. Still got a few things to move....
