My DIY Home Theater Screen

Uhmmm ... not to be a pest but those patches don't look ready to paint. Real quick I'll say that you need to sort of blend that in with some joint compound using say an 8" mud knife. Give it three coats with a little sanding in between coats. Spot prime with paint and then paint color on to entire wall after observing recommended dry time on can.

Otherwise you'll just end up with noticeable patches or you will have to paint twice anyway. This is sort of my 'area'. I would rather know more about A/V but such is life.
I already sanded and went over the entire patch with a 6 inch putty knife and compound. Then I feathered out the edges. Waiting for it to dry. Thin coat will probably take an hour or two to dry.

Overall nice job. I personally like the look of what a screen does to a room. It adds more to the Home Theater feel and depending on screen actually helps with image quality. Nothing against paint, I compliment your efforts, just does'nt work for me wanting to achieve that look/feel of theater environment.

On another note, I would suggest you paint a border using flat black paint. Nice install also.

Thanks for the kudos, but as you might guess, it isn't done yet. I need to put up molding around it that is painted flat black...

I think after the molding goes up and possibly some theater style curtains that it will be impossible to tell that it is a painted application. The upshot is that the paint will most likely compete with a $1K screen. We are talking $40 worth of paint...
