OK guys, just passed through the looking-glass an became a Audioholic.

Hopefully this is the right forum. Need some basic help with extending a Sony sound-bar cable.

Some preliminary info:
Sony HT-CT100 Home Theater (basically a sound-bar with separate sub-woofer/amp. The sound-bar, p/n SS-MCT100 has a proprietary cable that is factory wired at the sound-bar end (Let's hear it for manufacturers propriety connectors where they're not needed) and what resembles a VGA or DB type head at the opposite end where it plugs into the sub. Need to extend this cable at least another 8 feet.

Does anybody have any first hand experience with this particular system and cable connection? Is there an after market extension? Tried contacting Sony to get specs and got transferred around the planet to no avail.
Any info would be appreciated.

Having trouble posting a pic - seems forum won't allow. if you can get to sony e-support and pull up the pdf manual HT-CT100, picture is on page 8.
cable head seems to resemble a plain vanilla DB9. is it possible that it's just that and I can use a male-female straight-thu cable?

It is a standard DB9 connector. It won't be an issue using a DB9 M/F straight cable to extend it.

Hey guys. I came across this thread while searching google for some info on this speaker bar. I am a custom installer and have a job coming up with a customer that owns this bar. I have to relocate the sub about 5 feet to the left of where it is currently sitting (directly below the TV). I will be installing the TV on an arm, so have to factor in some extra distance to allow for the TV to swing in either direction. I tried finding out the length of the cable from the bar to the sub to see if I have to extend it. Can any of you confirm how long the cable is? Worst case I could stop by during the week to measure it out, but was trying to avoid having to dismantle anything before the installation day. Thanks in advance.
